Homeplate dropped their debut ep “Derby City” last Friday and it seems to be garnering quite some interest. Check out another song off this Ep titled “I Need Grace” which is a lot more straight forward than other relationship type faith innuendo tracks. The Simple Plan meets old Hawk Nelson sound of this song and acoustic guitar strumming beginning is sure to make a fan out of any pop-punk follower of the early 00’s. There have been so many u2 cover songs over the years and u2 cover bands (you know who you are) but none as powerful as this new Beloved version. I’m sorry but I just have to say that this is the most powerful U2 cover by a rock band that I’ve ever heard! I used to think Thrush’s version of “New Years Day” was pretty awesome but this one takes the cake. The production is near perfect, all the instruments played with a certain melodic ferocity and the intensity of vocals absolutely blows me away.… Continued →

Slick Shoes just released a jaw dropping new melodic punk inspired tune called “Visitors” to all digital platforms. Someone has posted the rare track “Heatherwood” by Underoath, up on YouTube. This comes from the sessions that would later become “They’re Only Chasing Safety”. It’s essentially a demo and with Dallas Taylor on Vocals instead of Spencer. The song got reworked later and became “Reinventing Your Exit”, their now classic hit song. Two special things are happening next month, the 20th anniversary of Indie Vision Music and the 20th anniversary re-release of the debut EP from my pals in Names Without Numbers! The song “Silent Streets” appears on the 2nd official (or 3rd if you’re keeping count) album from this punk/hardcore band out of Canada called “Every New Day“. It appeared on the album, “Even In The Darkest Places”. This song was unlike most I’d heard in the genre around that time period.
