Seattle, WA –March 27, 2014 – Extremist (Solid State Records), the highly anticipated seventh studio album from legendary hard rockers DEMON HUNTER, debuted this week at an impressive No. 16 on the Billboard 200. The Top 20 debut represents the highest chart debut in the band’s already storied career, surpassing its previous best set by the No. 36 debut of DEMON HUNTER’S 2012 album True Defiance. In addition, Extremist debuted at No. 2 on the Christian Albums Chart, No. 2 on the Hard Rock Chart, No. 2 on the Independent Albums Chart and No. 23 on the Digital Albums chart. A new project has emerged from a few members of Grave Robber and Rocky Gray of Living Sacrifice. They are called Creep Carnival and you can find them on facebook here. There is also a teaser to be found below this post. Grave Robber is definitely still in motion and will be releasing new music this year. This is going to sound great.

Georgia-based melodic metal band Theocracy regrets to announce the departure of longtime drummer Shawn Benson to pursue other interests. Continued work conflicts and scheduling issues simply made it impossible to move forward, so both parties amicably agreed that it was time for a change to be made. Check out Separatist, the full band-turned-solo project for Sam “Disho” Dishington of Hobart, Australia. Separatist is a completely one-man death metal project; Disho is responsible for everything from vocals and instruments to production and artwork. He has recently released his first solo full length, titled Closure, along with a completely re-recorded solo version of the band’s previously released full length, The Motionless Apocalypse. Project 86 has launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund their next album. They are offering many different incentives such as snowboarding with Andrew Schwab and handwritten/drawn lyrics. They are looking to release some original acoustic songs and, if you contribute enough, you can get early access to Schwab’s solo material. They are looking to raise $50,000 in only 45 days.
Progressive (“recycled”) Nu-metal act Mayfly will release their new EP “Vereor Deus, Non Dogma” next week through Voluminous Records. With a sound that blends the Deftones and Staple with some more modern touches, this is a band that is set to stand out by default in a sea of “more of the same” heavy music.
