Interesting, reminds me of secular bands like Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin along with other Christian bands like Skillet or Red. Nothing too special here but the chorus is at least catchy. I don’t know why but, even though I know these types of bands don’t have much depth musically I still find myself drawn to them and usually get their album for those times I’m in a mindless rock sort of mood…
Right on the money! I’m the same way.
I’m glad skillet is still making music.
I don’t know… we’ll have to see how their next album turns out.
If they don’t change at all again, I think they’ve served their time….
I think they have a lot of potential, I’ll be picking up the album
I have to say, this is the first music video quite awhile that actually made me think to myself, “This is awesome”. And I already thought that with the song
It’s just all the little stuff culminating: the lead singer using a lightbulb for a mic (I think it’s a metaphor for talking to God, but it also just looks cool), the drummer beating the skins with his bare hands during the bridge, and really just the cool way everything was shot and edited. I also think it was pretty creative to use action movie-style torture as a metaphor for the temptations of this world, as well as the quote from Ezekiel at the end. There’s some deep meaning going on, but the whole thing also works as just pure awesomeness. I hope their album measures up.
Definitely have crossover potential. Any fans should call up your local rock radio stations.
Singing in a light bulb??
Exactly what I was thinking, haha
Like I said, I think it’s supposed to be a metaphor for talking to God, as in the One Who lights up the darkness. That or it just looked really cool, because it does.
Great production! Good song too. This album has been making me wait way too long (especially for the song featuring Ryan from Demon Hunter, “Our Darkest Day”)!
Yeah, that’s the only reason I’m interested in this band at all. I love Ryan Clark’s guest appearances and the energy he gives to songs.
On a slightly related note, I wonder if Jeremy Dunn (Nine Lashes’ vox) is related to Jonathan Dunn (Demon Hunter bass + Director of A&R for Tooth & Nail/Solid State).
Sounds decent, but not overly original, but it’s pretty good for this genre.
They have a full album stream of this on newreleasetuesday.com. This album is one of the best modern rock albums I’ve heard in a while!
