Altar Boys have officially dropped their first new album in 25 years titled “No Substitute”. This new album is actually a collection of songs written after “Forever Mercy” and before they went on hiatus. The bare bones tracks have been re-recorded and freshened up for the world to hear. The songs run the style divide between their hit albums “Gut Level Music”, “Against The Grain”, and “Forever Mercy” while mixing in modern elements and a much fuller sound. It’s everything you’ve come to love about these legendary song makers and your expectations will be blown away. As much as I love those classic songs from the 80’s, there is just something special about the raw passion of a group of gentlemen coming to grips with their Faith, Hope, and age. This is truly timeless music and it doesn’t matter who you are or from what generation because these songs come from the heart. This album can’t be categorized or labeled as this or that, “No Substitute” is simply GOOD MUSIC. It’s rare for a band to maintain their legendary status for over 30 years and still come out swinging with the best of them. I can think of a handful of artists with or without the faith connection and to be honest some should have hung it up years ago. This isn’t the case with Altar Boys and as long as Mike and the boys still have a voice to share, nothing should stop them. Go check out “No Substitute” now on all digital networks. You can listen to the song “1000 Miles” below and I’ve posted the Spotify embed as well. Enjoy.

This band – Brave Future, a group I’ve been constantly hyping right here on IVM is back with another NEW song titled “Repair”. Former members of the great Sent By Ravens make up Brave Future and this song is nothing short of extraordinary. Seriously, an incredible piece of work and a band to keep your eyes on. Check out the new song below.
This incredible new band from Texas called “Relent” have just launched another new single titled “Changed” off their upcoming album, “Heart Attack”. These guys with their fiery brand of Nu-Metal mixed with aggressive rock n’ roll are here to win over new fans and souls for God’s kingdom. If you’re into bands like Islander, P.O.D., Korn, Deftones, then you are going to love this band. Check out the song below.
For King & Country have gotten quite creative, with an artistic attempt at creating an engaging music video. It feels as though each one of their new music videos comes across as a sort of mini-movie. It’s quite an impressive undertaking and shows a group with talent that many others lack in their presentations. I think these guys are going to really impact listeners with this new album and if these new songs are any indication of the direction of this new album, count me as number one fan. This album and the new one from Lauren Daigle are highly anticipated new releases for myself. Check out the new music video for the song “Amen” off their forthcoming album – “Burn The Ships”. Pre-order on physical media including vinyl right here.

I think we’re all beginning to wonder whether or not Switchfoot grasps the concept of a hiatus. The band announced their hiatus at the end of 2017 but that hasn’t stopped them from playing a few shows and teasing a metal version of their classic “Meant to Live”. Continued →

There I said it and it’s true, all of it. This relatively “new” rock band by the name of Brave Future as reemerged from the shadows to come out swinging in a big way this year. The band consists of former Sent by Ravens members and they play a sound in that same vein but in an even grander scope. Clearly said, this is rock n’ roll for the new millennium and the talent bleeds through with each beat, each chord played, and each note sung. The band has been releasing their new singles slowly since the start of the year. 4 songs total are now available for purchase/stream including the latest track “Repair”. Check out Brave Future and their riveting new music, below.
Fireflight have just dropped their brand new song titled “Die Free” which features Kevin Young of Disciple. The hard charging, heavy rock song will impress long time fans and inspire new fans to check out a band with an important message to share. Check out the song below and pick up wherever fine digital music is sold/streamed.

A new artist to many of you avid music listeners, Collington, has just released a brand new ep titled “In Between”. The 5 song ep featuring heart on the sleeve, thought provoking, indie rock inspired tunes meant to get your head spinning with those kind of sing-a-long songs. This is extremely well done and well played rock n’ roll that would please fans of Band of Horses, Switchfoot, Lifehouse, The Classic Crime, Manchester Orchestra, and Dashboard Confessional. It’s a diverse set of music and comes with my highest recommendation. This is independent music that wears the tag loosely and emerges with a certain amount of unparalleled confidence sure to wipe that sly snicker off every critic exposed to the ep. Yes, it is that good. If a label doesn’t pick up Collington in the next 6 months, then you can say I’m wrong. Stream below via Spotify. Enjoy!

For King & Country have just dropped another music video off their upcoming new full length album “Burn The Ships”. The emotionally charged new track “God Only Knows” connects with the listener in more ways than one. It is a beautiful song with a much deeper message. It balances words of hope and peace in the storm of doubt and pain with an underlying message of mental health awareness. Maybe I’m wrong but I haven’t seen this issue done with this caliber of quality in quite some time. Check out the video below and remember that there are always arms to catch you when you are at your worst and most desperate. There are those out there (including Christians) suffering the same afflictions, including myself.

Longest running alternative rock band in the Christian music scene – The Choir – are at again, dropping a super catchy and ear pleasing new full length record titled “Bloodshot”. It is truly amazing that after all these years this band can continue to churn the hits and songs most people haven’t yet discovered. A band of this talent bubbling just beneath the surface is unheard of but guess what, us fans have these legends to cherish all to ourselves. Am I right? Please go support these wonderful independent musicians by picking up merch in their store here or by purchasing in your digital store of choice. You can check out a new song in lyric video format, below. Catch the band live with The Prayer Chain and Dakoda Motor Co. in Nashville on August 4th.

If Anberlin’s recent post on Instagram is any indication of an imminent “reunion”, count me as excited. I love this band and any mention of new music from them is certainly reason enough to justify a GOOD DAY. I didn’t really understand their breakup the first time (a hiatus would have been sufficient). Check out the post below and discuss among yourselves. Anyone game for more Anberlin music?
