The Best of 1997: Favorite Hits From 20 Years Ago

Yep, the list you’ve all been waiting for (not really) is finally here. Feel free to offer up some laughs and critical remarks for the music I listened to the most 20 years ago. You’ll notice a heavy T&N presence and I just couldn’t help myself. There were a lot of albums and releases I found myself spinning back then and still getting plays today. I think that’s where this list falls in place, it’s the albums that had the longest lasting impact with me and had a catchy sound that I just couldn’t get enough of. I ride more on the commercial, melodic side of the market rather than all that arty ear splitting noise rock ;) I created a special Spotify play list that you can find near the end of the article. Some of these titles are out of print and only available in YouTube form so enjoy those unheard hits within the article. Remember kids, “some” of these releases may not have the best language so if you get queasy at the thought of dirty words from the general market (do we still use the word ‘secular’?) bands, you may want to skip those parts. So check out my faves below and don’t forget to check out “The Best of 2007” list which can be found here. Hop in your time machine and let’s get ready to party like its 1997! Continued →

I Still Dream - Broken

This deeply personal song titled “Broken” from solo artist I Still Dream, is a true heart tugging track inspired by James’ personal trials with the loss of his father a year ago. Check out the song below via SoundCloud. Lyrics can also be found below. This isn’t the typical “solo” song you’d expect. Raging, aggressive guitar work, screaming out in agony, and yet held together with the threads of Faith interwoven throughout the song. This deeply personal track is sure to win over new fans all over the globe. The song is available on all Digital networks. Continued →

Stavesacre "MCMXCV" Now Available

So excited to announce that the brand new Stavesacre full length “MCMXCV” is finally here. Take a listen to the songs on all digital networks including YouTube, below. If you don’t have this Stavesacre album yet and aren’t listening to it right now then I’ve lost all faith in humanity ;) Seriously though, drop what you are doing and give a listen to the new album from Stavesacre, their first new music since 2009. It’s more than nostalgia and longing for past glory, this is a step above all the other “rock” records of 2017. It’s a beautiful reminder of the powerful impact MUSIC can have on one’s soul. For me this band has always held a special significance for me in my walk and contemplation on life. Mark Salomon is one the finest rock n’ roll vocalists to grace our music scene in the past 20+ years as he has fronted this band (and before with The Crucified). I still have the fondest memories of seeing these guys live back in the day even when all the crowds around us seemed more concerned with punk and ska. These gentlemen always captivated the crowd and my heart. Thank you guys for making the best album of 2017 and revitalizing the rock scene. I hope even more people will discover the magic of this band. Continued →

Stream: Stavesacre - Accelerating Into Brake Lights

I am very proud and humbled to present this brand new track titled “Accelerating Into Brake Lights” from the band Stavesacre off their brand new full length record “MCMXCV”. You can listen and stream the track below. Make sure to pre-order the new record here for all of you that couldn’t get in on the crowd funding campaign. I am totally floored with the new Stavesacre album. It’s everything I had hoped for when I first signed up to contribute to their campaign. There are so many rushed reunion campaigns these days and I’m glad the guys really took their time in perfecting their craft to put out their best material in a decade. It’s on par with some of my faves in their catalog like Speakeasy, How To Live With A Curse, Absolutes, Bull Takes Fighter, and even Friction. This band can easily kick the butts of any of the newer groups just setting up shop on warped tour. I really hope Stavesacre gets some long over due credit and respect with this new album because it is well deserved. This album is everything you’ve come to expect from this seasoned group of musicians and that is PURE PERFECTION! This album is like the perfect continuation of the sound from #HowToLiveWithACurse mixed in with sounds you would have found on #Speakeasy and #BullTakesFighterep I even hear the influential sounds of their first two records: #Absolutes and #Friction. Stavesacre has far outdone themselves with this incredible, awe inspiring set of songs. Flawless production, intelligent songwriting and that unmistakable voice. All you salivating fans that missed out on the first preorders will without a doubt LOVE this album once you get it. Continued →

Exclusive Stream: TAKE - The Dead Will Rise Ep

I am super thrilled to bring you an exclusive stream of the new TAKE Ep. This independent Las Vegas, NV. metal-hardcore-rock hybrid band were around for a few years last decade. They went on hiatus and a member went on to front The Forerunner. It’s edgy, it is abrasive, and it is going to hit you over the head like a two ton brick of pure adrenaline. Step into the pit and prepare to throwdown with one of Nevada’s best kept secrets. This my friends is the band TAKE and I present their ep, “The Dead Will Rise”. Listen below. The band’s ep will be out by this Friday on all digital networks.
