In honor of the greatness of a Festival that brings so much joy to so many, I’m compiling a short list of recent band reunions announced at Furnace Fest 2023. This Fest has had a tumultuous past couple of years in light of the horrors and inconveniences Covid has brought to so many and yet persevered to cobble together an insane experience and an ongoing commitment to quality and fan adoration. While I haven’t been able to attend in either the past or more recently, I’m there in spirit.… Continued →

So everyone is excited for Facedown Fest 2017 because of the 20th anniversary. Many bands are coming back out of retirement including A Plea for Purging, Bloodlined Calligraphy and Nodes of Ranvier. We can deduce what the Plea lineup will be and I already gave the BC lineup. Graham asked what the Nodes lineup would be. So here it is:
- Jon Parker – Guitar
- Ryan Knutson – Drums, Vocals
- Kyle Benecke – Vocals
- Scott McGuire – Bass
- Sheldon Swan – Guitar

Facedown Records has just announced the lineup for Facedown Fest 2017. The festival has hosted many bands that were signed to other labels or the subsidiary Strike First Records, including Clear Convictions (Strike First), Comrades (ex-Blood and Ink), Bloody Sunday (Strike First) and several others. This year is the 20th anniversary of the label so they have had many of their prominent acts come join in or even reunite. The label is also hosting the Fest for 3 days, which is very abnormal as it is usually a one day event.… Continued →

Facedown Records has been rather notorious for throwing a festival each year since the early 2000’s to give people a show and sometimes to showcase bands for the label. On December 26, Impending Doom spoiled that they would be playing, though Facedown is no longer their label. In May, the 11th through the 13th is when the festival will occur. Another interesting tidbit, each member of the defunct band A Plea for Purging also shared the dates via his Instagram. None of the members are in another band, and there wasn’t another band they were in on Facedown, so best bet is A Plea for Purging reunion.… Continued →

Here’s another one of those lists I’ve been working on. Primarily, the reoccurring genre this time ’round are in the ‘core genre. Hope you enjoy! 5. A Thousand Times Repent Deathcore, as of late, has been extremely popular, especially with the last 4-5 years. If you want some good Christian deathcore, go listen to A Thousand Times Repent, as well as the Christian deathcore comps on Bandcamp. But back to the topic at hand. The band formed in 2006 as a sixpiece, one vocalist, one drummer, one bassist, and three guitarists.… Continued →

“Overcomer”, the first full length album from Prepared Like a Bride, boasts an impressive mix of crushingly heavy and surprisingly melodic. All of this fronted by powerful vocals and immensely heartfelt lyrics.

With a highly anticipated (and fully fan funded!) new P86 album on the horizon, I chatted with Andrew about how this new record is different from their last independent release (hint, it involves bagpipes!) and what greatness fans can expect to be unleashed upon them... soon.

Facedown Records have posted a new, live music video for A Plea For Purging’s track “The Life”. The band had this to say about the video: “While on last year’s ‘The Life and Tour of A Plea for Purging’ we had a chance to hangout with our good friend, Mark Eshleman of Reel Bear Media, whom we have worked with in the past on “The Eternal Female.” With one camera and an ecstatic Dayton, OH crowd, Mark shot some footage that would become a live video for “The Life.”… Continued →

The Immolation Dear Facedown/Strikefirst Records, I’d like to introduce you to the next band that you really should consider signing. Don’t think we haven’t noticed your love for bold brutal deathcore of late, what with signing Earth From Above, Impending Doom, and In The Midst Of Lions. For those of you unfamiliar with these guys (and girl) Reapers Are The Angels is a six piece keys backed deathcore band from Virginia that is passionate about their message.… Continued →

Interview conducted with Andy of A Plea For Purging at Facedown Fest 09. Alright, well first off, we’re just conversing. I’m not down for the interview process today! Sweet! We’re just chillin’! Exactly! Well I have to say your new stuff is sounding pristine. What’s the whole writing and recording process like for you guys in general and how has it differed this time around? Man, this time around it was way different than normal. With this one we secluded ourselves for like 4 months in the basement of this like lake house that one of the dudes parents owned.… Continued →
