'New' Francis track 20 years later!

By in Music Videos, News | 6 Comments

Kevin & Anita Robinson (Viva Voce, Blue Giant) had a short-lived funk/soul project called Francis, that released a split release with Lackthereof about 20 years ago. This project even opened for Fugazi once in North Carolina (talking about indie cred)!

The band is releasing a new track (well, sort of)–actually an unreleased track from 2004, which will be available tomorrow (June 27) on Bandcamp or Friday (June 28) on other streaming platforms, thanks to long-time label partner Velvet Blue Music. Kevin is a Middle School teacher in Alabama specializing in Multimedia Production and some of his students created this video for the song.

I don’t know how you manage to go this deep and this obscure so consistently, Loyd, but good job! Haha.

That’s cool to get his students to make the video.

Sadly, Kevin and Anita left the faith a long time ago. I loved the first 2 Viva Voce records.

I saw an interview but it was a long time ago, so I don’t know if it’s even still out there. It’s fairly obvious from their later records and what they chose to rerelease on Artifaktz, though.

No seriously. We need to launch an investigation on whatever VBM puts in the water. No way you casually have a release streak THIS fire for THIS long.

And thank you! I was wondering who on Earth Francis was since Velvet Blue posted the announcement (tried searching but you can guess how well that went loool)

every lil thing I do s’ gohn be funkyy (I love it!)

Would love your thoughts, please comment.x
