I’m very sorry to not have heard The Tale of a Broken Compass in 2013, because I want all the more time to digest what I’ve heard, and it would have undoubtedly made it on my Best Of list.
It’s deceptively simple, both musically and lyrically, but the closer you listen, you hear more layers underscoring it, until you finally decide to surrender and let yourself be caught up in it, caught off guard by the beauty of simplicity.
Falling Up’s 2nd half of the Machine de Ella Project – Hours is a fantastic album.
Aaron Sprinkle has turned his impressive talents to a new genre: pop. Is it a good direction for him? Yes and no. He brings a high level of production quality and songwriting to the genre which I find refreshing, but while it’s musically superb and unique in his discography, the lyrics do suffer a drop in depth – or maybe I’m just not on the right wavelength.
Check out Song of the Sparrow, these are songs for the soul, to cozy up to on a cold winter’s day.
