A really impressive new group by the name of Collington has just released a music video for the song “Trouble”. If you haven’t heard Collington before then drop what you’re doing right now and give this song a listen. Recommended for fans of Band of Horses, Hozier, Switchfoot, The Fray, and Damien Jurado. It’s an eclectic mix of artists just like the music of Collington. Debut album “In Between”, out now!

“Fire” and “water” are arguably the most overused metaphors in contemporary Christian music. But there is another common nature-themed metaphor in Christian music you may not have noticed: gravity. I by no means consider my research to be exhaustive, but I found nearly two dozen songs from the past 25 years with “gravity” in the title. Continued →

Switchfoot have gracefully returned from their years long slumber to reemerge as a metal band. Check out this first single titled “Project 11” which does sound eerily familiar but not sure quite how. This is the “heaviest” the band has ever sounded. Those of you that were secretly wishing for a Jeremy Camp metal project can settle for second best and get a sweet Switchfoot one instead. What goes better with the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ than Bunnies, Eggs, Peeps, and good ol’ heavy metal? Well it works, right? Happy Easter everyone, I hope you all have a wonderful day with your families, friends, and even those that choose not to believe. There IS peace, there IS hope, and there IS definitely love in this Faith we cling so tightly to.

The men in Switchfoot have announced their hiatus in 2018. They’ve been a band for 20 years which is quite an accomplishment. The fact that these core guys could stick together this long and put out a consistent set of cherished songs for 2 decades is admirable. I wish them the best and thanks for all the years of entertaining, uplifting and well loved songs. We were meant to live for so much more, indeed.

2016 was a great year for Christian music, so great in fact that I found it difficult to keep up with all of the releases coming out! These are the albums that I found myself listening to the most over the course of the year though, and after spending a few days listening to the others that I missed, I’m quite comfortable saying that these are the best releases of the year! As I begin this review, I should probably note that I’ve been a Switchfoot fan since I first heard “Meant to Live” on the radio all the way back in 2003. I was 11 years old and just beginning to get into music at the time. Continued →

Welcome to the second week of ‘7 Weeks of Switchfoot’! Today we explore their sophomore album, New Way to Be Human which was released in 1999. You know, back when everyone was still freaking out about Y2K. Looks silly in hindsight no? This album sure doesn’t as they capitalized on their debut in every way.
