The Business of Streaming and the After Effects of a Digital Marketplace

A really great article on the current explosion of the digital streaming marketplace and it’s subsequent takeover of standard music purchases can be read here (Billboard Article). It is interesting how much things have changed in the past decade and half. I remember the times of the pirates like Napster, Morpheus, Kazaa, etc. and how they threatened to undermine popular music. Then digital stores started popping up like iTunes, Rhapsody, eMusic, Amazon, Google Play, and many more. With each new incarnation of digital distribution there have been the critics who have tried to signal “the end is near” for popular music and yet time and time again they’ve been proven wrong.… Continued →

The Legacy of Christian Artists

This is an amazing article and I understand the sentiments so clearly. This is something that has weighed heavily on my heart too. I’ve made like minded statements around the web the past several years similar in ways to which this article is written. The notion that the passing legacies of once great artists seemingly gets forgotten, rings true in the hearts and minds of us aging fans and rockers. All those artists who’ve decided to call it quits over the past 30+ years (I can list tons of names) shouldn’t be forgotten or for their albums and art to go out of print.… Continued →

Apple Puts an End to the iPod Classic

Apple quietly put an end to the (much loved) iPod Classic this past week. As you can see in their official store, it is no longer available for sale. That doesn’t mean you can’t find it for sale on sites like eBay, but for the rest of us I think we can safely say… RIP. I am very much still a user of the iPod Classic since that is the connection my car uses, so for me it’s just simple. What do the rest of you use for your music collections?… Continued →

In the Silence of the Mind: Purity in the Media - Part 2

In the Silence of the Mind: September 19th, 2013 Purity in the Media: Part 2. In part one of In The Silence of the Mind: Purity in the Media I recounted a pivotal moment in my life where my preferred media choices and my devotion to Christ came to a head. Let’s continue our journey together by starting with a great quote from an amazing author. “Christians aren’t really so different from non-Christians, certainly not on the scale you would expect considering the promises of love, joy, and peace boldly pronounced from thousands of pulpits across the land.Continued →
