REVIEW : Praiser - 20 Again

“Blessed Be The Punk” We all want relive the days of our youth. Remember being young, vibrant, forceful in our thoughts and actions? Age doesn’t necessarily take those attributes away. Praiser makes that abundantly clear in their punk music. The band’s latest album, 20 Again, doesn’t bring age as its theme, but rather a collection of twenty great songs from their past. Since 2009 the Hamburg, Germany band Praiser has continuously churned out perfect punk tracks. I don’t use the term “perfect” lightly. Praiser knows what it means to be punk.… Continued →

Today's Thoughts on Marketing and Social Media by Brandon Jones

Good morning everyone and Happy New Year! Just thought i’d post a little blurb about an alarming “trend” I have seen in recent months. A few artists/bands have hooked up with some marketing firms, more like infomercial style marketing if you are looking for a definition. Anyway, I have been blasted with these ads for whatever reason on Facebook due to my young teenage demographic that I so lovingly belong to. I’m almost 40 going on almost 20, am I right? I have nothing against promoting art/music/products on social media and the web in general, I’ve done it myself for IVM and friends/labels do it for their bands all the time.… Continued →

REVIEW : TIMŌRĀTUS - Reverentia

While this band hails from Louisville, I would have sworn they were from eastern Europe somewhere.  That’s a good thing.  Reverentia is yet another quality post-metal release I’ve come across recently.  But whereas the mysterious band God revel in djent rhythms and instrumental anthems to connect the listener to God, TIMŌRĀTUS takes a different approach altogether.  Each album is written and recorded in a different style.  I’ve sampled some of the other albums and there’s black metal, thrash, doom and experimental hybrids. The music on Reverentia was takes on form of post-metal is impregnated with black metal atmospherics, layers of shoegaze wall-of-sound sonics and doom metal riffs, creating a drone metal beast! … Continued →

Pyramid Park - Fall On Me (Audio)

I’ve mentioned the artist known as Pyramid Park late last year and I just wanted to share one of his songs off the most recent full length “Vulnerability”. This worship centered UK based indie artist would fall somewhere between Bastille, Foster The People, We Shot the Moon, Two Door Cinema Club, and even a tad bit of Delirious. Pyramid Park’s refreshing take on faith based indie-alt-rock falls right up there with today’s hottest bands while establishing a road all their own. If you dig great music period then please give Pyramid Park a listen today.… Continued →

Squad 5-0 Begin Working on New Comeback Album, Say What?

With all these new reunions fresh in our minds and the rivers of nostalgia running deep, it was only time before the mighty Squad 5-0 came back and dropped a new album on us. According to the band’s official Instagram page (sorry I’m not aware of any Facebook pages that are current), they may be working on a new album and teased with like 1 second guitar clip. Whether or not this is true remains a mystery much like the band themselves. Let’s hope for one more rockin’ ruckus of a new album.… Continued →

The Prayer Chain Announce Vinyl Release of "Shawl" and Live Show

Beloved Southern California 90’s alt-rock band, The Prayer Chain, have just announced a new campaign to fund the vinyl pressing of their much loved debut full length “Shawl”. The band crossed all barriers and industry confines to write songs that conveyed emotions which the general “Christian” market just wasn’t prepared to deal with at the time. Their music transcends all labels and tags that may be associated with the band to truly be recognized as the powerhouse rock act that they were. This and “Mercury” were the band at their finest.… Continued →

Rival Choir Calls It Quits

According to the band’s (FKA Mouth of the South) most recent post on Facebook, the band is packing it in, but not before one last hurrah in Denton, TX on January 26th. If you can make it out, I have no doubt it will be well worth checking out to say farewell.… Continued →

Best of 2017: Rob Jensen

2017 was a pretty decent year for music! Between finding newer bands, the resurgence of others from years of inaction, and great albums from bands we’ve come to love and depend on for great music, it was pretty tough to be disappointed. Below, are the 20 albums that I consider to be the year’s best. If there are bands there you haven’t heard of, I hope you check them out, you never know…maybe one of them would’ve made your top spot. And please, drop a line in the comments and let me know your thoughts!… Continued →

The Best of 2017: Noah Hardwick

1. Colony House “Only The Lonely” Only The Lonely really struck a cord with my personally. Every song on this album revolves around our need for each other–a message I sorely need to hear. Thankfully, this record rocks and got spun a lot in 2017. 2. Knox Hamilton “The Heights” Named after a neighborhood in Little Rock, Arkansas, The Heights is most most played album of 2017. Maybe I’m a little bias because Knox Hamilton is from my hometown. Or maybe the album is just that good.… Continued →

Best of 2017: Graham Wall

1. The Ongoing Concept – Places This is how you make a rock album. Whereas Saloon can be a bit too intense and Handmade a little reserved, Places finds the sweet spot. You can check out my five star review here. Favorite songs: “You Will Go,” “Off the Cuff,” “Domesticated” 2. Theory Hazit – IT’S WHATEVER The Portland, OR emcee and producer released an instrumental album (with the exception of an MF Doom remix album) every month this year. Simply put, he is a beats and rhymes wizard and IT’S WHATEVER is the album that kicked off 2017.… Continued →
68 - Two Parts Viper

Best of 2017: Casey Gallenberger

Here is my “deluxe” review list for 2017 – 20 great albums paired with 17 EPs you shouldn’t overlook. This year, we saw strong releases from veteran acts and new groups alike, and they certainly weren’t confined to one genre. Hopefully you can find a new artist through the list below – and please let me know your opinions in the comments! *Denotes IVM Artist Albums 1.*’68 – Two Parts Viper This abrasive return to form by one of our generation’s most iconic rock duos manages to top their previous release, with a succulent mix of rock, grunge, hardcore, funk, and plenty of passion.… Continued →

Introducing: Chris DuPont

About Chris DuPont Chris DuPont is a singer-songwriter from Ann Arbor, MI. who mixes stylistic elements of indie, folk, and ambient. His approach to songwriting is down-to-earth and honest, paired with subdued instrumentation. Vibrant strings accentuate the emotional experience, resulting in songs that certainly have a lot of radio potential but which manage to maintain artistic expression nonetheless. Fans of Motherfolk and Ed Sheeran will find much to enjoy. Check out his 2015 album, “Outlier”, below.

Archabald - New Music

Archabald Teases New Album

New Archabald Album Out in 2018 Albuquerque, NM. experimental rock group Archabald has been teasing followers with a combination of cryptic posts, humorous polls, and poetic quotes. All this considered, a new album is in the works. It hasn’t been revealed exactly how far the group is into the writing process, but you can expect more news as time goes on. The band has also strongly hinted toward a giveaway, so be sure to follow them on social media. About Archabald Archabald released their debut full length, “Relativity”, in early 2016.… Continued →

Author Set to Release Sophomore Album on 1/1

“Is It Far // Or Is It Close” Due 1/1/18 Minneapolis-based indie act Author has announced their first new album in just about three years. “Is It Far // Or Is It Close” is due 1/1, but the band has set up pre-orders and has three tracks up for preview. “IIFOIIC” sees Author dabble with the ambient, post-rock leanings found on their debut, “Of Brighter Days”, this time incorporating some electronic elements as well. Add in the band’s penchant for technical, noninvasive drumming and they’re set to open up 2018 on a strong note.… Continued →

Arthur Alligood to Release "Portage Vol. 1: At The Edge Of The World" Ep January 12th

Arthur Alligood is an artist I’ve followed for many years. From his independent work as solo musician all the way up to “One Silver Needle” in 2012 which was one of my favorites and a critically acclaimed, under the radar HIT. If you don’t know who Arthur Alligood is and you’re just casually browsing IVM then please drop what you’re doing an listen to the full length album right here (or on iTunes & Spotify). Then head over to this link here and preorder the new ep (1st in a 4 ep series due in 2018).… Continued →
