In the realm of hardcore, originality is virtually nonexistent. What I see as important in a hardcore group is their passion and their message. You have your bands that constantly sing about winning “the fight” but what fight are they really singing about? Then there’s the band that sing so much about family, unfortunately for all their family oriented lyricism, the scene is more divided than ever.
When it comes to Redemption, they have more to sing about, and it’s in their name.… Continued →

FIRES OF BABYLON is classic 1980’s-style, shredding heavy metal reincarnated! I`m a big fan of the 80’s shred with the lineup of some skilled musicians including guitarist Lou St. Paul (WINTERS BANE), vocalist Rob Rock (IMPELITTERRI, Driver, Rob Rock), bassist Kelly Conlon (ex-DEATH), and drummer Robert Falzano (SHATTER MESSIAH)…The only reason I got this album was purely because Rob Rock was on it.… Continued →

Before I start this review, let me say that I really don’t listen to much thrash metal, nor do I know much about it. That said, this cd was really a lot of fun to listen to.
Once Dead was the resurrection of the controversy laden band Vengeance Rising, and has become a sort of christian supergroup now featuring members of not only Vengeance Rising but also The Crucified, Fasedown, Hirax, and Deliverance.… Continued →

Some say power metal is dead in the USA but I am here to tell you it’s NOT!!! There is a Power Metal band hailing from southern New Jersey and that band is Faith Factor. After their EP “07/07/07” comes their best stuff yet under their new debut album, “AGAINST A DARKENED SKY”. Throughout the years some have stated that one power metal band is the same as another, but they would be forced to rethink their postion after listening to “AGAINST A DARKENED SKY”.… Continued →

Being counter-cultural these days is extremely hard. Everything around you says “do things this way” or “if you have this item you need nothing else”. The Bible calls all Christians to something different, to be counter-cultural. What if we lived a lifestyle unashamed of Jesus Christ and no longer conformed to the patterns of the world. Or in this case, the culture. We would then line up with the teachings of the Bible and be better equipped to live a life that is set apart, unique. … Continued →
