Recently I was given a tip about a new(er) band called floodlit. One of the best tips in recent memory. floodlit is a Los Angeles based post-hardcore/metalcore band, in the vein of Thrice, Defeater, Norman Jean, Deftones, Emery, Saosin, Spiritbox, BMTH, etc. By the band’s description, heavy music for a heavy purpose.
To date, there are two singles titled “AMa” and “AKo” released with accompanying videos (see below). The tracks are a sampling of what’s to come when the band drops their debut album later this year. Now on streaming services everywhere.
The band is made up of Elijah Kellogg (composer and lead vocalist), Wil Jackson (guitar and clean vocals), Jinwen “Candy” Zhang (bass and clean vocals), Yifan “Yvonne” Lee (lead guitars), and Kevin Pope (drums).

I’m hearing:
1st vid intro Norma Jean’s A Small Spark vs a Great Forest
2nd vid intro Underoath’s Breathing in a New Mentality
Elijah is from the band Matter who put out a couple albums a decade ago. I am almost certain I heard of them here when Terraphim came out, one of the best posthardcore albums ever IMO.
