Homeplate - I Need Grace

Homeplate dropped their debut ep “Derby City” last Friday and it seems to be garnering quite some interest. Check out another song off this Ep titled “I Need Grace” which is a lot more straight forward than other relationship type faith innuendo tracks. The Simple Plan meets old Hawk Nelson sound of this song and acoustic guitar strumming beginning is sure to make a fan out of any pop-punk follower of the early 00’s. Check out the spotify and soundcloud streams below. “Derby City” out now via Indie Vision Music and available on CD right here for $5.Continued →

Beloved Release Best U2 Cover I've Ever Heard

There have been so many u2 cover songs over the years and u2 cover bands (you know who you are) but none as powerful as this new Beloved version. I’m sorry but I just have to say that this is the most powerful U2 cover by a rock band that I’ve ever heard! I used to think Thrush’s version of “New Years Day” was pretty awesome but this one takes the cake. The production is near perfect, all the instruments played with a certain melodic ferocity and the intensity of vocals absolutely blows me away.… Continued →

Fireflight To Release New Album, Stream Whole Thing Via YouTube

Fireflight are back with a powerful new 10 song album via Rockfest Records. You can actually stream the entire album via YouTube right here. Listen below. The album is out October 23rd via Rockfest Records. The sound and production on this new album is near flawless. Powerful, deep, bass driven rock songs with Dawn’s hard hitting, intense and gripping vocals front and center. It’s like the perfect combo of rock sounds reminiscent of Anberlin, Evanescence, Flyleaf, Spoken, and Ledger, all at their best moments. Dawn, Wendy, Justin, and Glenn are all back in the fold of the band and present their most heavy, rock inspired tunes in years.… Continued →

Slick Shoes Release New Song "Visitors"

Slick Shoes just released a jaw dropping new melodic punk inspired tune called “Visitors” to all digital platforms. The song will appear on the band’s upcoming EPIC new album “Rotation and Frequency” due out September 25th. Listen to the song below. This band continues to “Wow” and “Inspire” even after almost 25 years. This song is certainly no exception to the rule that Slick Shoes are one of the most powerful voices in today’s modern punk rock scene. The song takes on this nostalgic yearning toward youthful exuberance with a certain maturity only years in the game would inspire.… Continued →

Song of the Day: The Altered - Low

Not much is known about this band, who released one album for major label Curb Records in 1997, called Yours Truly. They played a fairly straight-forward brand of alternative rock that hinted at grunge without ever fully going to Seattle. The lead single was “Low,” with its provocative chorus: I’m wasted! I’m wasted! I’m wasted . . . without You!” While the song might have raised eyebrows among critics of faith-based rock music, the lyrics hit home for some. I remember playing the song for a friend of mine, who at the time was not a fan of anything hard or heavy.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Azusa – Interstellar Islands

So it has been messing with my head this band Azusa & how I think I know whom they sound like. I know the band is composed of members from The Dillinger Escape Plan (whom I saw live many years ago), Absurd2, Frodus, Arvinger, & lo & behold-Extol, Mantric & Benea Reach! This band is like a female vocal version of those 3 latter bands & has released 7 singles so far. Solid State Records truly knows how to find awesome music IMHO. Eleni Zafiradou is (believe it or not) a pop vocalist, but she screams like the best of my fave female vocalist fronted bands (Your Chance to Die & Bloodlined Calligraphy).… Continued →

Project 86 Re-Release "Self Titled" 1998 Album

Andrew Schwab and Project 86 have just made their debut 1998 “Self Titled” album available once again for streaming/digital purchase. The album has been offline for a number of years probably due to some offense with the song “Independence?”. This album put the Orange County, CA. band on the map in 1998 and by the time of “Drawing Black Lines” in 2000, this band’s mark was clearly felt. I was lucky enough to witness the band’s first few shows back when Ethan Luck was in the band and they had a very heavy, aggressive, RATM influence.… Continued →

Have you heard of Apologetix?

The band that just keeps on parodying hit after hit! I have been a follower of this parody band for at least 15 years or so. They take mainstream songs and compose Biblical lyrics & release 2 songs per month. The name of the band stems from 1 Peter 3:15 & is a derivative of the word apologetics which means “defense of the Christian faith. The past few years they have been churning out 2 songs at once even with female vocals. Their massive discography covers songs from System of a Down to The Beatles to Eminem to Ozzy.… Continued →

REVIEW : Former Ruins - Large Startling

Enchanting. It’s a word that sums up only a few truly moving albums; ones that shine lyrically, consist of artisan songcraft, and thrive off a powerful emotional response. I won’t mince words – Former Ruins offers all of this and more. Levi Dylan Sikes crafts cascading songs with The National-esque vocals and captivating folk and alt-country arrangements. It’s a solo project, but much in the same way The Winston Jazz Routine was; these songs are full, emotive, and daringly forward in their lyrical content. Undeniably, I care about lyrics more than the average person.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Roadside Monument - On Molasses Lake

Emo seems to be a genre that people either love or hate. Heck, even most of the bands who played in the genre didn’t want to be associated with the name for one reason or another. While Roadside Monument toyed around with various genres like indie rock (Beside This Brief Hexagonal), math rock (I Am the Day of Current Taste), and fusions of the two (Eight Hours Away from Becoming a Man), they also stayed just close enough to the emo genre to never fully break free from the tag.… Continued →

Beloved (US) Return With a Blistering and Ferocious Cover of U2

Beloved (US) are not taking a back seat to this whole 2020 fiasco of a year. They have recorded a cover of a U2 song and I assume will release it any day now. Watch the teaser clip below. This band hasn’t lost one ounce of energy since their long hiatus and the energy is even more ferocious and on fire than it was in the past. It’s almost as if some of that Advent magic is rubbing off on this Beloved sound. So good.… Continued →

Long running Christian Music website, JesusFreakHideout.com, just dropped Volume 9 of their “Songs We’ve Been Trying to Tell You About (and Others We Haven’t)” compilation series right here. Demon Hunter Drop New Cover Songs of Face To Face and LIVE

According to the Demon Hunter facebook page, they have dropped two new cover songs but are only available through their Blessed Resistance Club. I am not a member so I can’t vouch for how these sound but if their prior music is any indication, these 2 covers are going to melt my face off, literally (and no pun intended). Demon Hunter cover the classic Face to Face punk rock anthem, “Disconnected”, as well as the hit 90’s alt rock song “Lightning Crashes” from the now classic 1994 rock album “Throwing Copper” by one of my favorite bands, LIVE.… Continued →

I Am Empire Possible Return?

It appears that all the handles for the band I Am Empire have been re-lit and are active once again. Some posts have been made and one says a big announcement is coming this week. Maybe by the time this is written and posted, the announcement will be made? The band released several independent albums/eps before signing with Tooth & Nail and putting out “Kings” in 2011 then “Anchors” in 2013. What was your favorite IAE song? Who else is excited for their return?… Continued →

REVIEW : Kevin Schlereth - Alembic

Kevin Schlereth is a certified dude. His existence strides the line between nomadic and genius. He sports a bushy mustaches and wears dad hats and red shorts. Along with compatriot Jay Costlow, and with the rest of the Schlereth clan in tow, this musical collective is rarely in stasis (save for the past few months). They’ve become known for their relentless touring, seemingly-endless connections, and tight-knit, living room performances. Musically, the experience is a bit singer-songwriter and a bit indie rock. Lyrically, the crew draw their influences from New Testament Scriptures.… Continued →
