MxPx - Call Me (Official Music Video)

MxPx are just cranking out these new music videos left and right and oh boy are they killer! This new music video for “Call Me” off their brand new album is directed by none other than Darren Doane who worked with the band on their early music videos as well as a bunch of other early T&N and underground punk and hardcore stuff. Really fun video. While you’re on Youtube make sure to look up the other new videos from this album for “Cautious Optimistic”, “Not Today”, “Stay Up All Night”.… Continued →

Five Iron Frenzy - When They Find You (Feat. Mike Herrera of MxPx)

In honor of Five Iron Frenzy day, the band drops hard hitting new song – “When They Find You”. The song features backing vocals from Mike Herrera of long running left coast punk act, MxPx. Listening to this song first time through I made up assumptions and drew targets to throw foam darts at in the hopes making my confusion stick somehow. I read through some comments on different social media sites, scratching my head reading some of the responses then instantly connected with the lyrics Reese Roper posted in the comments of the FIF page (Facebook).… Continued →

Song of the Day: MxPx - Want Ad

Y’all better to get ready to put your boxing gloves on. You ready for this? Pokinatcha is the best MxPx (Magnified Plaid) album. Why? It was melodic, but still very much punk–bordering even on old school hardcore at times. It’s by far their most unique record, before they settled into the more polished pop-punk sound that everyone remembers. To be clear, I have no problem with the direction they later took (except for maybe moving further away from Christian spirituality and theology as the years went by, but that’s another post altogether).… Continued →

Nate Parrish to Release New Single "God Knows" (Feat. David Bunton of The Showdown)

I bet you didn’t see that coming did you? Yes sir (or ma’am or whatever), Nate Parrish is BACK and with a vengeance, a most righteous, glorified vengeance of the melodic punk rock n’ roll variety. He is releasing his first new single of 2022 titled “God Knows” which features David Bunton of the great band – The Showdown (Get Snake Bit) lending his vocal talents. You might not know this but David also was a melodic punk band years ago before The Showdown so this pairing is absolutely perfect!… Continued →

MxPx - Rolling Strong

Remember that one time MxPx said some naughty words and got busted by the cops? No? Well watch the punk rock legends MxPx get themselves into trouble (both literally and figuratively) in this fun throwback video to those old timey pop-punk classics. So far, what new song is your favorite – “Rolling Strong” or “Let’s Ride”?… Continued →

MxPx - Let's Ride (Official Music Video)

MxPx have finally unveiled the first new song from their upcoming new 10th studio album, “MxPx”. This beautifully filmed music video and extremely catchy new song can be heard below. Mid-Life punk rock takes on new meaning and brings to the forefront all those fresh memories from years ago that were bubbling just beneath the surface. The nostalgia runs deep in this song and video and I think us as fans couldn’t have asked for a better first single. “Let’s Ride” is not only the perfect introduction to a band who have had so many trials during their run but also a reintroduction to a band you might have gave up on after their first decade.… Continued →

MxPx Prove It To The World That Tomorrow Is Not Just Another Day and Take Their Punk Rawk Show Directly to the Fans

That’s right friends, the much loved and critically adored long running legends of a band – MxPx, are back and with a new album. They are here to prove that 26 years later it isn’t the end but rather a step in the next phase of this band’s legendary career. It’s hard to believe that seeing them in some sweaty Church basement here in Orange County, CA. back in 1995 with all of us (band included) being youths, that their music would endure through the years attracting new fans each step of the way.… Continued →

The Best of 2007: Favorite Hits From 10 Years Ago

Hey friends it’s that time again, time for another “list”. Feel free to offer up your big Laugh-Out-Louds and smirks for some “hits” I found appealing 10 years ago. A lot of stuff from that year was enjoyed by me, some I am rediscovering, and others were missed opportunities. Check out my “list” below and feel free to listen to the playlist I created on Spotify for this list found in the article. Remember kids, “some” of these releases may not have the best language so if you get queasy at the thought of dirty words from general market (do we still use the word ‘secular’?)… Continued →
