Remember that one time MxPx said some naughty words and got busted by the cops? No? Well watch the punk rock legends MxPx get themselves into trouble (both literally and figuratively) in this fun throwback video to those old timey pop-punk classics. So far, what new song is your favorite – “Rolling Strong” or “Let’s Ride”?
The profanity completely took me off guard. I’ve never heard them use it before. Really disappointing to hear. Ruined a great sounding song.
Will so far I’ve only heard the first 8 tracks of the new album. It sounds good. I will admit that I am disappointed in MxPx having to pull a P.O.D. After all these years why stoop to this level? I’m not perfect nor am I walking on water. I have struggle from time to time saying bad stuff. But as a Believer I know better not to say God’s name in vain. To know the Authority of Gods Name and how powerful it is. Why even go there and say it in such a terrible way. I forgive MxPx… Read more »
I checked out the new album on Spotify. I do not mean to be dramatic, but I was so turned off by that line, I stopped listening right away.
I am sad to see that the band has changed in that way.
I’m not judging them for the language but using that line is offensive to a lot people out there. Maybe that was the intent? I can understand if they want to distance themselves from a particular scene or group of people who have associated them a certain way, but to use language that many Christian fans have a strong distaste for is kind of a bummer. I love this band and their music really is consistently solid since day 1 but I’m not particularly fond of the way this song has been dropped on us. Even my wife was shocked… Read more »
Yeah, the blasphemy on “Friday Tonight” is pretty frustrating, even if it’s just Mike quoting the movie Friday. Of course, quoting a movie, or referencing one for a chorus feels pretty lazy. I remember being really excited that the band were making a sequel to “Party, My House, Be There” for The Renaissance EP, but then being kind of turned off when the chorus to the song was just Mike rattling off the names of movies that had cool parties. I was almost more bummed by that in “Friday Tonight” than the profanity. It might be easier to take (or… Read more »
Ok so profanity is very very subjective. For example: In Australia, pastors will say s*** d**n c**p a** and no one will even notice. Even f*** I have heard once although that was a tad too far maybe. Also consider this, did the bible make a list of words we should not say, or did secular society dictate what is distasteful? So yeah, respect society but amongst christians, need we be so squirmish about different words for faeces and sex? I am not a person who uses much profanity at all but it doesn’t offend me. Real issues like rape,… Read more »
Bands who write about touring have run out of things to write about. Too hard for the fans to relate to.
Disappointing yes but thankfully no GD word and f bomb like many so called Christian bands are doing now.
I dug “Let’s Ride” a little more, but loving this, as well.
I take it all back he uses G dang in a song so now I’m very disappointed in a band I have looked up to for so long
I hope yal dont consida “ass+ dam” as “profanity”. If so, yal must stil b teens/ lil kids?
