Can I say,…pinnacle?  Is it too early for that kinda talk?  Death Metal EP of the year?  Could it be?  Maybe, just maybe….

For Mangled Carpenter, the underground masters of death metal and grindcore, this EP, is their best release so far.  And not that their earlier stuff wasn’t good.  In fact, it was very good.  That’s what makes this EP so incredible.

From the brutal artwork which would make any horror freak smile to the thick production, this EP covers all the bases.

Oh, and did I mention there is a Mortification cover (“Terminate Damnation”)……

The guitar work is off the chain on this one.  So many intelligent, intricate parts mixed in to the buzzsaw chaos.  There are hints of industrial splattered through the EP as well.   The drums and programming hit hard and remind me of Agoraphobic Nosebleed.  With all that being said, I feel like the vocals steal the show.  Seth Metoyer shows off some range on this one never letting you rest on one particular type of growl.

This is modern death metal at its finest.  Grinding Death Metal with ‘Core Elements thrown in for the kiddos.  This EP brutalizes many generations of death metal fans.
