I was listening to this Unashamed song the other day through one of those Daily Mix Spotify Playlists that they so graciously create for me each day and I was brought back to a different time in my youth. So much anger, rage, and hope all in one song. The Sleeping Giant documentary is equal parts joy and sadness. You feel uplifted by the band’s message and testimony but a bit of sadness overwhelms when the realization sets in that this is the band’s swan song. It’s a great piece of work and a fitting reminder of the power of heavy music on the masses. This band may not have been a worldwide mainstream success story like say Imagine Dragons or Cardi B (barf) but none of that mattered when you saw the band’s overall message of love and hope for a lost world.… Continued →

With today being Thanksgiving and Christmas around the corner, 2019 will be here before we know it. There have been so many great releases these past 11 months, but some have gone with little or no recognition. This post is to bring to light some of those releases. 

After their ep release “Intolerant” a year and a half ago, Richmond, Virginia’s spirit filled hardcore band, Strongholds, are back with a new single entitled “Pillar of Salt”. These warriors of Christ are not new to the scene as they have been active since late 2012 and continue battling on chanting their battle hymns and gathering others to salvation that lies in Christ Jesus. On Tuesday night, I interviewed Garrett of the spirit filled hardcore band Rapture, from Los Angeles, California. Garrett and I spoke about their experience with the label, the band’s upcoming album, and some other cool stuff! Could you give a quick background on the band? These are some bands that were sort of popular, but didn’t get very far. Hopefully this sheds some light to the underground SFHC Scene or more appropriately, SFMC Scene. 5. One Way/Raid Christian metalcore/hardcore One Way formed in… I don’t know when. The 80’s. The band did not have very much success or really any publications. Other than one in HM in 1991. But Raid, their next band, had a little more success. Same genre as One Way, but with a Straight-Edge message, alongside the uplifting Christian message.… Continued →
