Rising from the ashes of 2 other bands (one of which A Past Unknown has been played on a few Christian radio shows, including Ohio’s RadioU), Iowa’s Then It Ends is a metalcore band that has some great melodic stuff. Besides their most awesome energetic Kingdom which has profound lyrics (Someone else already beat me to a quasi review on July 3, 2014!), their rendition of Bethel’s It Is Well is worship music with a metalcore twist. Be prepared to raise your hands in worship to our Saviour Jesus with this one.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Fit For A King - Skin And Bones
Bam-this is hands down one of my fave songs of all time from a band that hails from the same town as another great (softer) band Eisley. This ballad just has some type of energy with its musical prowess & soaring vocals & provocative lyrics that makes me contemplate my life & relationship with YHWH. FFAK also still keeps releasing more music it seems like very year & vocalist Ryan has recently joined forces with Chris Wiseman from Currents on the metalcore project Our Eternity (see my review on that January 27, 2021).… Continued →

Let’s fund this thing and help create the best melodic punk rock release (well one of them because so many awesome ones this year) of 2021. Click here for the campaign and grab some awesome merch including vinyl, cds, and even tapes.… Continued →
Song of the Day: God - Revelation
Is it a bit pompous to call your band “God”? Maybe. But what’s particularly interesting about this band is we know nothing about them. Band members are completely anonymous. Is it even a band, or a solo project? Where are they from? No idea. Because the project is completely designed to “Challenge you to consider Him as well as your life & death through the power of music,” they figured the best way to do that was anonymously.
And you know what? I can respect that.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Laing - Groove
Now here is a rarety from a Texan industrial rock artist known as Laing. His given name is Trevor (Laing) & his music falls somewhere in between Circle Of Dust & Mortal or even Skillet’s Hey You, I Love Your Soul release. He released 2 LPs 2001’s Groove & 2005’s Ashes. If you like this SOTD, check out my other fave from him the similar The Finish Line.

Song of the Day: A Week Away Film, Awesome God Medley
So our family discovered this cute little Netflix film called “A Week Away”, which conveys a strong, hopeful message, and plenty of sing-a-long moments (think The Greatest Showman meets High School Musical meets Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist). The film takes cues from familiar Christian stories and uplifting films without getting too overly cheesy. Yes, it’s a family sing-a-long film but kids can stay connected to the story regardless of age(s) and find something meaningful to absorb. I found the film not only brings families together but can also be a great teaching tool for sharing Faith with those that are maybe seeking out greater meaning in this chaotic life we share.… Continued →
Song of the Day: David Meece - When I Was Seventeen
David Meece is a classic singer/songwriter hands down. Known primarily for his piano skills & his many Christian contemporary radio hits, he was also a subtle rocker. I think I remember seeing him on Trinity Broadcast Network’s Fire By Night hosted by Blaine Bartel back in the day. Today’s SOTD is a bittersweet story of his life growing up & how Jesus was there all along. I think we all can understand that still small voice of Jesus calling for us while we were yet sinners.… Continued →

I Am Spartacus to Release New Album on April 1st
Sarcastic and somewhat goofy pop-punkers I Am Spartacus, are dropping their brand new album titled “Trigger Happy” on April 1st. This album is sure to make heads spin and people gasp (look at those song titles). Listen to some samples right here and you’ll see what I’m talking about.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Trust Divided - Right Through You
This band reminds me so much of mainstream’s 5 Finger Death Punch. Hailing from Kentucky, the band incorporates melodic hard rock from a Christian perspective. The band formed in 2009 with 2 members meeting due to the military bringing them to the same area. Being prior military for close to 8 years, this resonated with this reviewer. They have toured with mainstream & Christian bands alike & have great songs such as From The Inside Out (Not the worship song cover) & Still Standing. Check out my fave from them.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Disturbulenced - EXpose(d)
While Gospel music to most probably represents tradition and preservation, there is also a strong undercurrent of experimentation and the avant garde. Among faith-filled artists are John Coltrane’s divinely-inspired free jazz, classical composers pushing the envelope of what music should be (Bach, for instance), heck even the first rock and roller (arguably) was essentially a Gospel singer/guitarist who just cranked things up a little louder. I mean, of course, Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Add to the list Orlando Greenhill.
Greenhill is probably most known for his upright bass playing in Havalina Rail Co.… Continued →

Corey Steger (Formerly of Underoath) Loses His Life in Tragic Car Accident
Corey Steger, a founding member of the band Underoath who played on the band’s very early albums, has tragically lost his life in a car accident. He was a husband and father to two young children. A GoFundMe has been set up on the family’s behalf to help his wife and children during this very difficult time and we encourage our readers to consider contributing. More info can be found below.… Continued →
Song of the Day: White Collar Sideshow - Like Spiders Weave
This Arkansas macabre husband/wife team has finally crossovered to mainstream with their catchy song Bring Out The Dead. Their musical talents seem to have many influences as heard in their many great songs including Try The Swine & Black Heart Hearse (alt-rock) & I Didn’t Come Here To Die (alt-country). This band is on my bucket list (to see live In person that is!). They seem to have high energy shows & wear various masks through them & their music videos. Check out the SOTD (which is in homage to my fascination of arachnids) & also a live quarantined concert below!… Continued →

DENS - Even (Tamed Tongues Sessions)
DENS has put out another track from their upcoming “Tamed Tongues” release. The song is “Even” and is a new version of the same track featured on the band’s 2020 album, “Taming Tongues”. This song/version is further proof of this band’s unmistakable talent and continued draw as one of the great new indie bands gracing our music scene here in 2021. Just when you thought “rock” music didn’t have anything new or relevant to offer, I present to you the band DENS. This hard working band has been at it for nearly a decade in one form or another.… Continued →
Song of the Day: Kiros: Broken State
Kiros (Greek for a moment of divine time) was a Canadian punk influenced modern rock band that had an 11 year career ending in 2013. It also appears a review was made on their release prior to today’s SOTD on this very website! Today’s SOTD is extremely catchy so check out these lyrics & hilarious video!
Careful living
Is reckless at the core
You trade in sell out
Is this what I’ve waited for
It’s so inviting
Pursuing empty dreams
With hearts left behind
But I can’t resort to settling
When I just want some clarity
Cause these blurred lines are all I see
Illuminate
I can’t afford the price you’ve paid to
Recreate
But I can’t take this broken state of me
These shallow things
Don’t help me feel okay
It’s wasting my time
Instead of walking on the waves
I’ve been so resigned
To life in black and white
But I have this time
To add some colour to the sky
There’s a conviction, there’s a reason that I’m reaching for
Cause in this fading place I can’t help thinking that there so much more

Allen Odell - Are You Okay? (New Song)
Allen Odell released a brand new song titled “Are You Okay?” back in January and it is a magical, beautifully dynamic yet simple, new song. I’m loving the vocals and soft guitar strumming from Allen. This song has some soft beats in the background adding layers to this already great sound. It’s like a mix of Matt Kearney, Jon Foreman, and David Bazan with a little Snow Patrol thrown in (vocally). This is a bright and uplifting track, perfect for those warm spring/summer days (still to come).… Continued →
Radical Radical - Misfit Toys (Official Music Video)
Adam Lohrbach of Home Grown fame returns with his latest creation, Radical Radical. He dropped his debut song titled “Misfit Toys” which is a wild, nostalgia driven ride through pop-punk soundscapes and grasping close at those heart strings. You can find this new song in music video format which fully expresses the joy, the hope, the past, and the future all rolled up into one tasty song meant to inspire. If you dig pop-punk of old with a little “EMOtion” thrown in for good measure all the while sharing this story from Adam’s view point, well then “Misfit Toys” is for you.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Veio - Leviathan
Veio is a crossover Oregon band that has a progressive metal sound akin to Tool & Deftones & being a fan of Maynard’s voice, I was happy when I found about this band on another Christian online radio site. Their mainstream song was Flare of Defiance & they have toured with other crossover bands Red & Starset . They formed in 2010 through Craigslist when the 2 originating brothers decided to start a band with their name being inspired by a Da Vinci sketch. Today’s SOTD is in prep for the new album that they are starting to write, but also, check out their cool cover of Filter’s Hey Man, Nice Shot.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Beloved - Before There Was You There Was Everything
Wow, what a great band, with such potential! Sadly, Beloved released only one EP (originally for Vindicated from the Deep Water and later re-issued by Solid State) and one full length. That first EP rocked my world. I got to see the band live 2 or 3 times in this era and they were rapidly becoming my favourite emo-core band. They had a truly unique take on the genre fusing melodic indie rock with emotional emo and brutal hardcore, all in one go! It was really refreshing.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Harvest - Let's Fight
Pulling from the way back archives, Harvest was an original ministry oriented band from Texas. Comprised of Jerry Williams, Ed Kerr & Paul Wilbur when I first heard of them, their releases appealed to Christian radio big time. Mostly an 80’s band, their discography entailed many early Christian radio hits ranging from the worshipful All That Is In Me to the rocker We’re Gonna Take Hell. I always dug Jerry’s voice & his charismatic way of leading the audience to see Jesus. A few years I did communicate w/ Ed on social media who was involved with teaching music.… Continued →

Yours For Mine to Release New Album This Friday March 19th
An incredibly talented band by the name of Yours For Mine (which we covered back in December of last year) are dropping their brand new album titled “How Dark The Night” on Friday, their first new music in 10 years. The independent band brings to mind some of that abrasive meets melodic, spoken word meets screaming over layer after layer of melodic emo tinged rock songs. It’s a perfect, spirited combo of music that’ll please fans of La Dispute, mewithoutYou, Thrice, Attalus, DENS, and even newer bands like Idle Threat, Meadows, and Eaves.… Continued →
