Leanor from Five Iron Frenzy Launches Podcast

Leanor Ortega Till of the band Five Iron Frenzy (otherwise known as Jeff the Girl) has just launched her very own podcast titled “Too Punk to Be a Hippie”. You can find the first episode on the official website right here. What do you think? I know the scene has gotten overrun with podcasts to the point of over-saturation but having a punk rock woman’s voice in the mix can never be a bad thing.… Continued →

White Collar Sideshow - Break On Through (To the Other Side) (Video In Post)

Yet to disappoint, White Collar Sideshow has dropped a new video this past week for their cover of The Doors track, “Break On Through (To the Other Side)”. The band’s take on it is consistent with the edgy southern hard rock feel we’ve heard off their other releases off the upcoming album, “I Didn’t Come Here To Die”, set for release on October 4th on Curtain Call Records. Check out the video below and tell us what you think.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Ana Sapphira - Rain Song

Rarely do I hear music and feel as though I was meant to hear it. However common it is to hear good songs, bad songs, and even very impressive ones, a lot of music doesn’t strike me as having significance beyond random chance. Earlier this month though, there was a day when I was listening to “Rain Song” by Ana Sapphira over and over. I decided to visit their Facebook page shortly after, and sadly, it looks like the band broke up last year. I first heard “Rain Song” in a HeartSupport video featuring lead singer Jonathan Lamper, which I will also include below.… Continued →

Song of the Day: What of the Night - Soaked Right Through

I don’t suspect many of our readers will be familiar with What of the Night, which is a shame. This Irish & English punk band released only one album in 1979 (yes, you read that right!) making them the earliest Christian punk band (if we don’t include Death, which is a discussion for another time). The LP features post-punk, mod, and garage rock sounds and would be at home next to the likes of The Undertones, The Jam, Buzzcocks and so many others. It’s super rare and hard to come by, but I managed to track down a copy for myself a couple of years ago.… Continued →

Thrice Announce 15th Anniversary Tour for Landmark Album, Vheissu

Thrice have just announced plans for a 15th anniversary tour in honor of their landmark album, “Vheissu”. Vheissu originally released in 2005 via Island Records that was met with a heavy dose of critical acclaim and a bit of negativity from the rabid early years fan base. For me it was a beautiful, musically rich and engaging, endearing album that has stood the test of time. I still remember hearing the song or two on a Burnout game and being so psyched for the band. Regardless of what you think of their 3 prior full lengths up until 2005, this album really set the pace for what was to come.… Continued →

REVIEW : War of Ages - Void

Two thousand and nineteen has proven to be quite the year. One day, a bunch of rowdy hooligans on Facebook are planning how best to invade Area 51, and the next, there’s a War of Ages occurring on planet Djent. Void places an emphasis on groove, which is kicked into full gear by track three, “Blood of the Earth.” That being said, the more conservative fans need not fret; War of Ages are still our metalcore heroes from Mars. “Sulphur and Salt” – a Star Wars metal opera – capitalizes on what is perhaps the band’s greatest virtue: epic choruses.… Continued →

A Few Words on The Death of Jarrid Wilson

I’ve had a rough past few weeks. My moods have gone from the most elated to utter dumps. It has been an exciting time in our family and an incredibly stressful time. We have had our fair share of trials and tribulations the past 5+ years (if you know us or have heard my stories, you’ll understand why). A few days ago a rising young Pastor and mental health advocate named Jarrid Wilson tragically took his own life at the age of 30. He has left behind not only a community of believers but his loving wife and children.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Theory Hazit - Unforgivable

“Ain’t been to church in about a year / All my old friends are outta here” I finally got around to listening through The Fall of the Light Bearer (2015) this year, and it’s turned out to be one of the best albums I’ve heard as of late. Serious lyricism and experimental production abound. The melancholic “Unforgivable” is accompanied by fine cinematography and gives an accurate impression of what the album is like as a whole.… Continued →

Wait For The Day - Nothing Will Feel The Same (Official Music Video)

So I was watching RadioU video channel yesterday and caught a video from this band – Wait For The Day. Apparently we covered them back in 2017 but then they slipped back under our radar. The band has been making solid music for the past few years and this latest video was posted 10 months ago. This song appears on the band’s latest release “The Sun Will Drown” which is available now. Give these guys a listen and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Post-Hardcore with a certain metal influence.… Continued →

REVIEW : 2Minute Minor - Snake That Ate It's Own Tail

I usually like to have some Kenny or Dolly playing on the turntable in the background as I start writing a review. It gives me the inspiration I need. NOT, but now that I have your attention I must point out that the opening track to this album comes blazing off the starting line at full speed. It’s a skull crushing track and the epic start of an album that brings back that late 80s hardcore punk vibe, and although I didn’t experience that era live, the videos and stories people tell bring it to life.… Continued →
