Floodlit is a band from Los Angeles that covers a wide swath of all types of aggressive and heavy music and does so exceptionally well. If you’ve yet to check them out, you’re in for a treat. The debut 10 track release really comes out swinging and is based on the singer’s time spent living in Myanmar and the conflict that has been ongoing in the region for some time. How did you not mention that Elijah Kellog heads this band and that he was the singer of the late, great Matter? They ended way too early and that seems like an obvious promotion piece.
Contender for album of the year for me! Flawless for the style, monster production, packed with amazing melodies and hard hitting riffs. I have listened to this probably 20 times or more start to finish. It has a perfect flow. There really isn’t a bad moment. The three vocalist approach works so well and given the topics, Elijah’s fury comes off legitimately justified in both rage and heartbreak. Matter “Teraphim” is legendary in my books but this is probably better.
I finally had the time to listen to this for the first time today, but am still unsure of it. I liked both singles, but the album as a whole didn’t impress me as much. The album itself is quieter than others (maybe 20%), and the other songs have so much low-end to them that the whole thing is a little muddy to me at times.
