Best of 2017: Graham Wall

1. The Ongoing Concept – Places This is how you make a rock album. Whereas Saloon can be a bit too intense and Handmade a little reserved, Places finds the sweet spot. You can check out my five star review here. Favorite songs: “You Will Go,” “Off the Cuff,” “Domesticated” 2. Theory Hazit – IT’S WHATEVER The Portland, OR emcee and producer released an instrumental album (with the exception of an MF Doom remix album) every month this year. Simply put, he is a beats and rhymes wizard and IT’S WHATEVER is the album that kicked off 2017.… Continued →

REVIEW : The Ongoing Concept - Places

“Originality, I give up” screams Dawson Scholz on “The Print.” After two years since their last album, all band members leaving except for him, The Ongoing Concept returns with new members (Andy Crateau – guitar, vocals; Cody Rhodes – drums; Ian Nelson – bass) and their third full-length. The Ongoing Concept Loses 3/4 Lineup(?)

Recently, I discovered The Ongoing Concept. Ok, well I had heard of them before, just was never interested. I downloaded the Son of Screamfest 2016 compilation and heard “Prisoner”. I followed up with listening to “Cover Girl”, “Failures and Fakes” and “Saloon”. I did a little more research, and discovered something. It seems that Brothers Kyle and Parker Scholz and friend TJ Nicholz seem to have left the band. Leaving Dawson Scholz, the remaining brother, the main member. There was no mention of the members departure at all, but there were several pictures with another lineup.… Continued →

Handmade Album Cover

REVIEW : The Ongoing Concept - Handmade

The Ongoing Concept have delivered another unique, high energy album. The logical continuation in style after “Saloon”, “Handmade” features a more reigned in style with songs that work in conjunction and don’t feel like a greatest hits album.

INTERVIEW : The Ongoing Concept

The Ongoing Concept, releasing their debut album “Saloon” via Solid State Records, gave me the opportunity to interview them in light of their album release.  Check them out of Facebook for latest news regarding their album, tours, etc.
Keith: With “Saloon” about to come out, what are somethings that are going to set this album apart from the others that have been released in 2013?
Dawson: I am in no way exaggerating when I say I have  listened to this album at least 2000 times in total.
