I’ll just come out and say it, “Deathbed” is quite possibly the best “Christian” song that has been written in the past 15 years. That is quite a statement to make and I’ll tell you why. First of all, bands who can create an 11 minute “epic” song with constant peaks and valleys all the while captivating the listener with a heavy dose of heart tugging melodrama, you know they are doing it right. I don’t know what it is and maybe that’s just me being a sentimental, sappy fool, but when I give this track a listen, I am left with a tear(s) streaming down my cheek.… Continued →

Last month, Skillet re-released their most recent album, “Victorious” and dubbed it “Victorious: The Aftermath” (get yours HERE). The re-release features 3 new tracks and reimagined/remixed versions of previously existing tracks. One of the new tracks, “Dead Man Walking” was just given the lyric video treatment. Shane, why must you create such fresh, relevant, heart wrenching new music? This song literally grabs you by the throat and well, releases a flood of all the best emotions. In reality, this song does anything but “Choke” you but it does grip you with a collection of notes and music performed by a talented ensemble of well seasoned musicians. Deep Valleys is a band from Buffalo, NY that formed in 2016. Since then, the band has released an ep titled “The Call Of The Void” in Sept 2017, as well as a full album titled, “Goldhaven” that dropped in August of 2019. The newest single, “Beyond The Waves” was released last week and is a pretty great song. The band’s style reminds me of a mix of Thrice and Anberlin. They are a post-hardcore/emo/indie rock band that really amplify the “rock” element and are here to present some super cool music (that will blow your mind, significantly). There have been so many u2 cover songs over the years and u2 cover bands (you know who you are) but none as powerful as this new Beloved version. I’m sorry but I just have to say that this is the most powerful U2 cover by a rock band that I’ve ever heard! I used to think Thrush’s version of “New Years Day” was pretty awesome but this one takes the cake. The production is near perfect, all the instruments played with a certain melodic ferocity and the intensity of vocals absolutely blows me away.… Continued →

Andrew Schwab and Project 86 have just made their debut 1998 “Self Titled” album available once again for streaming/digital purchase. The album has been offline for a number of years probably due to some offense with the song “Independence?”. This album put the Orange County, CA. band on the map in 1998 and by the time of “Drawing Black Lines” in 2000, this band’s mark was clearly felt. I was lucky enough to witness the band’s first few shows back when Ethan Luck was in the band and they had a very heavy, aggressive, RATM influence.… Continued →
