Getting your mind off world events, Covid and all variant insanity, the heat of summer, well then might I suggest some guitar heavy music from Phinehas to drown out the noise? Phinehas, a band I’ve been a fan of since right before they joined their first record label like 15 years ago, are back in an absolutely incredible manner. Their brand of metal(core) has been missed and this new song “In The Night” is certainly no exception to their greatness. The band’s new album “The Fire Itself” is out August 27th on Solid State Records and you can pre-order here.… Continued →

You probably didn’t realize it, but Phinehas has been around for nearly 18 years. Although they only rose from obscurity in 2011 with their debut album Thegodmachine, Phinehas has now put out another reason why they are becoming the giants in the genre. Freshly signed to Solid State Records, the California metal band puts out their most technical and stunning release to date. Dark Flag is a concept album that doesn’t necessarily tell a story, but follows a theme of struggle in a violent and oppressing regime.… Continued →

Back in 2014 we told you about 10 bands YOU needed to listen to as a fan of heavy music. Just over two years later, here are ten more.

The metalcore band Phinehas has announced they will remain a three piece, at least temporarily. Phinehas started in 2001, but the band didn’t really come to fruition until 2007. The band went through several lineup changes, ending on Vocalist Sean McCulloch, Guitarist Daniel Gailey, Bassist Bryce Kelly, and Drummer Lee Humerian. Humerian recently departed from the band on good terms. Now, McCulloch will be performing Vocals and Drumming. As they have stated several times. Sean is playing drums and singing now. So I guess the band now consists of Sean McCulloch (Vocals & Drums), Bryce Kelly (Bass) and Daniel Gailey (Guitars).… Continued →

Phinehas, Christian metalcore band from California, has had a successful couple years. Last year they already released a Acoustic EP, titled Fight Through the Night. This year might be a bit rough on the band, though as Drummer Lee Humerian has announced his departure from the band. Humerian, alongside Vocalist Sean McCulloch, have been the main members of the band since 2007. Over the years, they gained Bassist Bryce Kelly (2012) and Becoming the Archetype Guitarist Daniel Gailey (2014), and this became the lineup most knew for the last 3 years.… Continued →

I was browsing iTunes this morning and found a sweet pre-order from the band Phinehas for their upcoming ep “Fight Through The Night” (available December 16th). You can even listen to the samples on iTunes. It appears to be an “acoustic” release with the band backing up Sean’s strong hit worthy voice (if any guy is made for radio, it’s him). One song “Book of Names” features Garrett Russell of Silent Planet. This Ep follows the same feel as their 2013 “The Bridge Between” Ep. It appears that this will be an independent release as the label says “Phinehas LLC”.… Continued →

Silent Planet is a band that has been making some serious waves over the last several years. The group has shown extreme potential with their eclectic blend of artistry which merges the beauty and ambiance of mewithoutYou and the thick tone and riffing of Oh, Sleeper.

With the release of “The Last Word is Yours to Speak”, I have finally realized who Phinehas is: They are leaders of the modern metalcore, who are not overrated as I had initially perceived, but need more attention.

Phinehas brings a "between" albums EP to the table that may just outshine what most bands are doing on their full length feature releases. How could that be, you say? Read on to find out more.

Oh my gosh, Phinehas have really outdone themselves. They just released a crazy good new acoustic track titled “Enkindler” that you can listen to below. This song will appear on “The Bridge Between Ep” that’ll be out in 2013. Man I hope they continue to explore this side of them and that the new album will have these elements blended with all the heaviness.… Continued →
