New Moda Spira Album

Moda Spira Launches Campaign for New Album

Moda Spira, the electro-pop project of Latifah Alattas of Page CXVI, has launched a crowdfunding campaign for her new album, due this fall. 2016’s self-titled release saw a hazy mix of synths, passionate vocals, and diverse songwriting. The upcoming album chronicles the unexpected end of her marriage and her journey through pain. Subsequently, we can expect more serious subject matter, though the album (from the brief samples we’ve found) will carry much of the same electronic, pop, and orchestral mix seen on its predecessor.… Continued →

Five Post-Hardcore Albums You Probably Missed

5 Modern Post-Hardcore Albums You Probably Missed

Post-hardcore is a genre of stigmas – on one hand, the easycore bands tend to dominate modern perception. On the other hand, people might form expectations around Fugazi. Arguably, the staple of modern post-hardcore borrows from hardcore but throws in a stronger melodic focus. It’s a careful balance of mosh-inducing energy and admirable riffage. Here are just five albums you probably missed over the years. 1. Teraphim (Matter) Matter released “Teraphim” in 2014 before quickly breaking up. Sitting at seven tracks (30 minutes of material), it’s closer to an EP than a full-length; nonetheless, it’s conceptually cohesive and manages to cover a lot of ground – specifically, the book of Ezekiel.… Continued →

The uniquely individual Israeli music group known as Miqedem are back with their second full length effort of original songs composed entirely in Hebrew and centered around sacred biblical text. This is worship music done not by hipsters in the Nashville spotlight or big arena Christian rock events, but by a group of messianic jews who are composing something fresh and entirely original. The group is currently on tour in the U.S. right now so be sure to check out their Facebook page for all the tour dates.… Continued →

Names Without Numbers Join Indie Vision Music

News that has been a long time coming and something I am over the moon excited about. The Omaha, Nebraska based indie/emo band Names Without Numbers, have indeed signed with Indie Vision Music. I will be working with the band to promote their new upcoming music including a special single that goes live on May 21st. I have a special connection to this band and followed them for several years during the last decade until they broke up. I actually put the band on a compilation I produced called “I’m Your Biggest Fan Vol.… Continued →

Ben Knight - The Lighter Side of The Dark Knight

Check out this fun lyric video by the comical and incredibly catchy indie-hip hop artist, Ben Knight, below. The song is titled “The Lighter Side Of The Dark Knight” and I think you’ll pick up on the content once you give it a listen and read the lyrics. The music of Ben Knight can best be described as some insane explosion between the music of Will Smith, Weird Al, and Furthermore, while offering a glimpse into the mind of a modern hip hop jokester. It’s a fun, comical, and witty take on modern rap with sounds/beats that will get you humming along for days.… Continued →

Black Pages - Back Down

Black Pages' "Back Down" is a Refreshing Wave of Experimental Art Pop

We haven’t heard much from James McCurley’s solo project, Black Pages, for several years. His first EP was a promising mix of ambient, pop, and singer/songwriter, but his new single, Back Down, takes things up a few notches. Much like his previous tracks, Back Down is largely subdued and a bit pensive, though it feels a bit more stream-of-consciousness as well. Pop sensibility is mixed with a manner of progression, with no discernible chorus, changing tempos, and vocals reminiscent of Silver Sun Pickups. It’s proof that pop music does not need to be predictable nor inane.… Continued →

Introducing: Chris DuPont

About Chris DuPont Chris DuPont is a singer-songwriter from Ann Arbor, MI. who mixes stylistic elements of indie, folk, and ambient. His approach to songwriting is down-to-earth and honest, paired with subdued instrumentation. Vibrant strings accentuate the emotional experience, resulting in songs that certainly have a lot of radio potential but which manage to maintain artistic expression nonetheless. Fans of Motherfolk and Ed Sheeran will find much to enjoy. Check out his 2015 album, “Outlier”, below.
