Check Out Zane Vickery (FFO: My Epic, Last Bison, Benjamin Daniel)

While Zane Vickery’s first album showed a catchy, piano-indie/emo/pop sound, he’s cranked things up with lots more intensity on his latest tracks. These are honest-yet-faithful songs that showcase Vickery’s soaring voice and a backing band that feels equal parts contemporary worship and aggressive post-rock. And while it’s never TOO heavy, it’s decidedly more rock-based than his first release. He has a new EP coming soon, but until then, check out the latest tracks below.

Song of the Day: Twotimer - I Forget

Pop-punk band Twotimer released 2 albums and then called it quits. Very little is known about the band, other than their recorded output. After a self-titled and self-released debut in 1998, the band signed to punk stalwarts Screaming Giant Records and issued See What Happens from Here in 2000. The album featured snot-nosed, yet melodic tunes that bordered on pop-punk and new school/skate punk, but with vocal harmonies. Recommended for fans of Side Walk Slam, Shorthanded, and early MxPX. “I Forget” is taken from the Screaming Giant full-length album.… Continued →

The Prayer Chain "Mercury" Now on All Digital Networks + Live in 2023

One of our music scene’s best kept secrets is the band The Prayer Chain. They released their final full length in 1995 to much critical acclaim but at the time I’m sure it slipped under everyone’s radars. Well that now “classic” album “Mercury”, is available once again via all digital networks and streaming sites. I’ll be streaming it myself from Spotify today! The band have also announced possible new shows in 2023 and a possible “Live” Vinyl release next year as well. More news as it happens.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Theocracy - Hide in the Fairytale

TBH I never did get into power metal-until I heard Theocracy. They are that good. My Bro Ben (whom is starting our much long overdue metalcore band without me of course as I no longer live in Columbia SC. saw them maybe a year ago called me up & I had a conversation with their drummer. Anyways this song hits you like a ton of bricks as is a take on Romans 7:15-20. A child in sweet duplicity For innocence? Or slavery to nature And the bents that haunt him straight out of the womb?… Continued →

Song of The Day: Whitecross - Enough is Enough

Today’s song of the day is going back, I mean WAY back into Christian rock past. I’ve always dug the band Whitecross. So much of their music was similar to what was coming out in the 80’s/90’s sound wise but they had their own spin and music chops to back it up. Rex Carroll was a force of nature and Scott’s raw vocal talents cut through the noise and all those sappy moments. They were true innovators in a scene run rampant with drugs, sex, and that whole vulgar image people ate up.… Continued →

Martin Smith (Delirious?) New Album "Dancing In The Fire" Out Now

I somehow missed this album and any news about it earlier this year. I had just discovered some recent songs from the album, “Dancing In The Fire” by former Delirious? frontman – Martin Smith a few weeks ago and just had to share. Listen to one of the new songs from this album (out now), below. The song is titled “Until The End of Time” and is a perfect introduction to not only Martin’s music but also a certain discover of the intersection between Faith and art.… Continued →

REVIEW : Rob Ray - The Twilight Gospel

The Twilight Gospel is a culmination of years of spiritual and musical wanderings for Rob Ray. This album is the firstfruits of two previous EPs – Yours is the Day and Yours is the Night – and appropriately finds the midpoint of both, musically and thematically. Even the title itself finds itself somewhere between day and night. There’s a stillness and gentleness of the night here, but the light has most certainly not been extinguished. The album features 11 tracks of Ray’s unique brand of playful indie pop, sultry lofi, and pensive alternative worship.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Convictions - Eros vs The Price of Grace

So this SOTD goes out to my bros in Convictions whom I think has evolved to be the best metalcore band of the past 5 years. They are talented as all get out & are still deeply rooted Christians. I have seen them twice in the past 2 weeks & each time the crowd was into them also. I joke with Mike (their vocalist) on them playing this old song Eros & he chuckles. Anyways, Check out Pastor Rob’s reaction to The Price of Grace also.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Idle Cure - Holy Mountain

So I heard this song back in the day & fell in love with it. Now this is in those days that internet wasn’t around yet & I had no clue how to find it. Years went past & while digging thru Idle Cure’s stuff, whoa I just found my jam!  This is AOR & I get this is a punk site but these lyrics (partially pulling from Psalm 99:9) still ring all these years later. Hope y’all understand what I mean. Have you ever been up to the mountain Have you ever walked on holy ground We can all go without condition The veil’s been torn, there’s love all around The light shines from all directions You’ll cast way your cares Have you ever taken water from the river If you drink you’ll never thirst again It’s all been given to us freely No more servants, we’re called friends The path is narrow, the days are few Let’s walk up to the mountain and turn the old to new Shadows falling, harvest from the light I can feel the power of love Voices singing, praising the Most High Now I know, I’m standing on holy ground Have we lost the heart to worship Have we lost the song of praise Is our walk another chapter Reading words but we never bless His name The path is narrow, the days are few Let’s walk up to the mountain and turn the old to new Come enter in and you will see The temple door is broken free Lift your voice now don’t be shy Lift Him up to be glorified

EMOtional Rock Anthems, A Spotify Playlist

I just launched another NEW playlist via Spotify called “EMOtional Rock Anthems”. If you’re feeling particularly emotional and overcome by moodiness, may I suggest this playlist. Full of songs that fill out a decade or two. It’s a growing playlist so stay tuned. I’m trying to keep it mostly pre-2010 because well, you know, emo kinda died for a bit? But its back, YAY! Anyway, enjoy and feel free to spread the word. Playlist below and link right here. Continued →

Song(s) of the Day: Bloodgood - Crucify / The Messiah

If you’ve been following social media regarding the Christian scene at all over the recent weeks/months, you’ll likely be aware of Michael Bloodgood’s recent health issues, culminating in his death last week. Michael was a co-founder, and obviously namesake, of the legendary and seminal Christian metal band Bloodgood. The band has been active since the 1980s, with their first album coming out in 1986. They stood out from the pack in various ways: the theatrical singing and stage antics of lead vocalist Les Carlsen, the top-notch music and writing of the band, and their no-compromise approach to lyrics and music ministry.… Continued →

Kaleb Luebchow In Memoriam

It is sad to write this as most of us know by now that Kaleb has passed on July 27, 2022. Most of us know him for his amazing drumming work. He was originally from Champaign, Illinois which is about 45 minutes from where I currently reside. He has worked with many bands including War of Ages, The Burial, Hope for the Dying & a few others. Let us remember him as a brother in Christ who has gone home to be with our Saviour.  Here are a couple songs that showcase his drumming abilities.… Continued →
