Song of the Day: Wolves At The Gate - Man of Sorrows

Keeping it more current because I’m known to wallow in 90’s and early 00’s nostalgia. It is time to step forward in time a little. Does 2012 count as more current? I mean it is only 8 years ago, right? Well Wolves At The Gate have been making quality music for more than a decade and have released 4 nearly perfect full length albums (+ several eps and a covers ep) in their careers with Solid State Records. The band has churned out one solid hit after another and yet go somewhat unnoticed by the mainstream crowd which is perfectly fine with me.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Further Seems Forever - For All We Know

This wasn’t the typical Further Seems Forever song of unbridled aggression, melodies intertwined into some sort of cosmic explosion of pure joy and instant approval by even your most jaded friend. This song was somewhat of a departure although still incorporating that classic “emo” sound they’d been pegged with for years. Something about this song evokes passion and unrelenting “worship”. Maybe it was intentional or possibly an unintentional after thought but this song leads one into contemplation and self-analyzing, directing you into a heaven’s gaze. Jon Bunch despite any shortcomings he may have had in the eyes of vicious teens and young adults who had blood thirsty claws out for the throat of this “new” vocalist, captured the attention of generations of different music fans despite genre.… Continued →

The Beautiful Mistake - Memento Mori (New Song)

The Beautiful Mistake return with their first new song in over 15 years. The electrifying new song titled “Memento Mori” takes the band in familiar territory while incorporating a completely current sound. The production is crisp and clear and the vocals are presented front and center. There is a heavy emphasis on melody here and a sense of heaviness intertwines throughout. If you weren’t familiar with The Beautiful Mistake in the past then this is certainly the song/EP that’ll push you to the forefront of being a fan.… Continued →

New Video From Seventh Day Slumber: "Man Down"

Seventh Day Slumber dropped their newest album, “Closer To Chaos” in 2019 and the album was chock full of hard rock tunes. Check out the new video for this song below and let us know what you think.… Continued →

Switchfoot Joins Nickelback and Stone Temple Pilots on Tour This Summer

This is no joke. A personal fave of mine, a band we call Switchfoot is joining up with world renown Canadian rock band Nickelback and California based grunge-alt-rock band, Stone Temple Pilots (STP) for a run of dates this summer/fall. This might just an epic rock extravaganza or How You Remind Me of a cringe worthy PHOTOGRAPH? Either way, there is a little something for everyone and a true rock n’ roll fan to enjoy. I’ve heard the new vocalist of STP is one of the best.… Continued →

Local California based post-hardcore/indie rock band – The Beautiful Mistake, made their triumphant return in 2018 and have been fast at work on their comeback EP the past year. Belle and the Dragon - Wrestle With the Devil

If you’re wondering what the guys from Flyleaf have been up to, wonder no more. Check out Belle and the Dragon, an alternative rock project by former Flyleaf guitarist, Sameer Bhattacharya. He is joined by Pat Seals on bass and Wuv of P.O.D. on drums. “Wrestle With the Devil” was released this past Friday and is the first single off the upcoming album, “Birthrights”, which is set to drop on 1/17/20. Check out “Wrestle With the Devil” below and share your thoughts.… Continued →

Of the Lion - Indigo

This past Friday, Of the Lion (project from Collington drummer, Nathaniel DeLeon) dropped their first single, “Indigo”. The song is immensely enjoyable and catchy. Vocally, I’m reminded a bit of The Wallflowers and Hillsong United’s Joel Houston. Musically, the verses are laid back and fairly ambient, leading into choruses that drive more and more as the song progresses. Looking for a new artist to get into this year? Of the Lion sounds very promising and I look forward to hearing what else is in store. Check them out HERE and/or at the video below.… Continued →

Best of 2019: Rob Jensen

2019 had a number of great releases. Check out my favorites below and see what you think. Agree with any of my picks? Give a listen to the ones you are unfamiliar with, you never know, maybe you’ll find something new to listen to!   1.    Slipknot – We Are Not Your Kind. Slipknot returned with their first album in 5 years this past August and based on reactions from fans and critics alike, WANYK has cemented itself as, arguably, one of their best releases to date.… Continued →

Five EPs From 2019 You Can Download for Free

Streaming is great and all but it’s not for everyone. At least that’s the impression I got last time I wrote about albums you can download for free. So I’ve got five more free EPs that released during 2019 you can add to collection. 1. Roelant – The Narrows This 5-song EP is a contender for my best albums/EPs of 2019. Roelant first crossed my radar in 2015 with their album Music to Change the World but failed to making a lasting impression. That all changed when I heard the lead single “Wrong” from their new EP The Narrows earlier this year (check it out below).… Continued →
