Minor Rockstar Release Debut EP

A new grungy-punk like band called Minor Rockstar just dropped their debut EP titled “Wasted” and it is available on all digital networks now through Thumper Punk Records. They have a really unique moody yet melodic sound that would have fit comfortably on any rock radio FM dial throughout the 90’s but not so drenched in nostalgia that they don’t fit in here in 2023. Imagine Superheaven, Balance & Composure, Off Road Minivan, Weezer, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains in a blender and you’ll get a feel for the sound you’re about to encounter.… Continued →

A Most Unnecessary Five Iron Frenzy Box Set Reaction by: Brandon Jones

This dumpster fire of a box set is sure to break the wallets of Five Iron fans across the world but also allow existing Five Iron vinyl owners to customize their order options and buy what they really need, food! Enough with that inflation, what we need is good old crappy third wave ska punk in vinyl format! The most exciting part for myself is the addition of “The End is Near” on vinyl for the first time plus “Proof That The Youth Are Revolting” and a really cool B-Sides record chock full of songs no one cares about.… Continued →

Introducing: This Surrender

I stumbled across this band the other day and had to give their latest EP a listen. This Surrender are described as an Easycore band out of Brooklyn, NY. but I would add in worshipful lyrics and a message of hope built on love. As their bio says, they are inspired by the likes of Killswitch Engage, For Today, alongside Four Year Strong and A Day To Remember. Imagine that mashup and you get kind of the idea of just what music you’ll discover upon listening.… Continued →

MxPx will return on August 25th with their brand new studio album, their first since “Self Titled” released in 2018. The band has been releasing quite a few singles and even a deluxe version of “Self Titled” with bonus songs ever since 2018 but fans are eager to hear a complete brand new full length. Pre-Orders for this album go live on July 21st through I’m guessing is the MxPx webstore so make sure to follow the band on all their socials as well as their official MxPx.comContinued →

Introducing: Generation Gone

For this special Saturday in July I thought I’d share another really great project with you this time from a group called “Generation Gone“. They are a melodic hardcore punk band out of Southern California featuring a heavy, hard hitting sound that is melodic at times and furious all the time. The music is loud but the production is above all the rest (makes sense since the famous producer Paul Miner has his hands on producing these tunes). Songs about life and frustration, about Faith and resolution, about coming to grips with who you are and what you believe.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Upstanding Youth - Better Than You or Me

Hailing from Hawaii, this fun 6 piece ska band has all the elements that drove probably most of us to love ska. Crowd vocals, music to skank to & mean guitars melding w/ horns. They released 2 LPs, an EP & a few songs on the IVM Ska Lives comps. Here is my fave. & btw, check out current ska band Must Build Jacuzzi from Peoria, Illinois whom I have seen I believe thrice live now.      … Continued →

A brand new punk rock n’ roll band by the name of TEETH FOR EYES has emerged from the shadows and ready to get to business. The band recently posted their introductory pics which includes behind the scenes studio work. The band features some members of a mostly well-known punk band (to us anyway) called CRUX as well as other notable, associated acts such as Govt Hate Mail and Empty Tomb, among many others. Check them out on Instagram right here or @teethforeyes. Make sure to save, bookmark, or mentally record that account because much more to come including actual music, yay!… Continued →

REVIEW : Craig's Brother - Easily Won, Rarely Deserved

I’ve been sitting on this review since last November and since I tend to move slower these days with my writing contributions, it’s better later than never. Let me start off by saying that Craig’s Brother have been a favorite of mine since I first heard “Homecoming” all those years ago (25!). Their blend of melody, aggression, and thought provoking lyrics set them apart from the rest of the pack. I once had a label spinoff of Indie Vision Music and in 2019 I put out their “Devils in the Details” EP, one of the best accomplishments in all my years of running IVM.… Continued →

Best of 2022: Brandon Jones

I’m finally getting around to doing a quick write up on some favorite releases and songs from the past year. These may or may not be in any particular order and is based upon a mix of memory and my 2022 Spotify playlist where I throw everything new onto it for continual playback throughout the year. Read below and feel free to post your own favorites of 2022 that I’m sure were accidentally skipped on my own list (and maybe even have yet to be discovered).… Continued →

Indie Vision Music x Tooth and Nail Records - I'm Your Biggest Fan 2 (21 Years Ago)

A word document popped up in my Dropbox while I was searching for old files. It showed that the tentative line up for the “I’m Your Biggest Fan 2” compilation that I assembled for Tooth & Nail Records on March 11th 2002, 21 years ago. A couple bands had to be swapped for a couple reasons but the final lineup is pretty close to what I had planned out. I have created a little collage video with a couple song samples from the compilation through YouTube which you can view below.… Continued →

Song of the Day: The Discarded - Religious Lie

I first heard of this LA punk band when I was running distro in the early 2000s. They had an EP out on The Legion (short-lived label that only released 3 titles), which I began stocking, and then they put out another release on the upcoming Clumsy Records (also home to Combat Junkies, The Stivs and a few others). I had the chance to catch them live at Cornerstone 2002, which was a fantastic show! In fact, that year was a great year for punk at the festival, as I also saw Huntingtons, The Remnants, One Bad Pig, World Against World, and Headnoise that year among others.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Don't Know - Helium

Early Tooth & Nail bands were awesome-what the heck happened? The label has a wide variety of artists back in the day whose sounds were not heard of really in the CCM industry. Hence we have Don’t know: a hybrid of funk, punk & metal that sounds akin to Primus or Mr. Bungle. Members of this band have a very long discography with other bands such as Blenderhead, 90 Lb Wuss, Roadside Monument, etc… Check em out & their reviews on Amazon!   Continued →

Indie Vision Music Most Wanted Band Reunions of 2023

Merry Christmas, Friends! I’m going to type up some thoughts on bands that should most definitely reunite in 2023 to 1) Play an anniversary set, 2) Re-Release a classic album on either vinyl, tape, or cd with bonus features (and band commentary) and 3) Throw some new and/or unreleased tracks at us that we most definitely need to hear. Thoughts and ideas can be found below…. Oh, and Tim Taber if you’re reading this, I hope you’ll consider the words below and incorporate them into future plans with Transparent Productions here in Orange County and Southern California in general.… Continued →

Five Iron Frenzy - When They Find You (Feat. Mike Herrera of MxPx)

In honor of Five Iron Frenzy day, the band drops hard hitting new song – “When They Find You”. The song features backing vocals from Mike Herrera of long running left coast punk act, MxPx. Listening to this song first time through I made up assumptions and drew targets to throw foam darts at in the hopes making my confusion stick somehow. I read through some comments on different social media sites, scratching my head reading some of the responses then instantly connected with the lyrics Reese Roper posted in the comments of the FIF page (Facebook).… Continued →

Nate Parrish - Attention Junkies (Official Lyric Video)

Nate Parrish is the kind of artist you can’t just listen to once. In fact, you’ll be addicted upon that first listen, being drawn into that raw, yet melodic punk rock spirit Nate Parrish is keeping alive through his passions and talent. There is certainly nothing boring or bland about this music. The music he makes straddles the line between raw punk rock authenticity and a commercial sound worthy of repeated listens on radio/tv/media. Taylor Swift’s jaw drops when Nate Parrish picks up his guitar and begins singing.… Continued →

Do I Smell a Ghoti Hook Reunion?

There are rumblings in the Ghoti Hook camp that could spell something new from the band which would be their first “official” reunion of the band members since 2002. A rather cryptic post dropped on their Facebook page here a couple days ago which has left people guessing. Check out the post and picture below to see if you can figure it out. No, I do not have any insider info on this one so I am right in line with the rest of you. Continued →
