For those who don’t know, Desiring Dead Flesh are a 3-piece hardcore punk band from Michigan, entirely made up of family members Bryan (vocals, father), Adam (drums, son), and Ravyn (guitar, daughter). Yep, just drums, guitar and vox—no bass or anything else. This is raw, fast punk rock. While it would be tempting to think this is simplistic, that would be missing the mark. David has announced an end to the much loved and adored Christian punk rock label, Thumper Punk Records. He started it as a music site in 2008 and we all watched it grow as a record label the past 10 years. Him and his label will be sorely missed but we commend him for wanting to devote more time to his family. It’s tough in this scene and I know exactly how he feel coming from my perspective. Punk Never Dies, no really it doesn’t. We are led to believe that the flavor of the month is heavy metalcore/djent/hardcore/etc. and we know every little “Christian” label is pushing that stuff. I do love a lot of those bands but my passion has always been on the punk rock side of things.
