Minor Rockstar Release Debut EP

A new grungy-punk like band called Minor Rockstar just dropped their debut EP titled “Wasted” and it is available on all digital networks now through Thumper Punk Records. They have a really unique moody yet melodic sound that would have fit comfortably on any rock radio FM dial throughout the 90’s but not so drenched in nostalgia that they don’t fit in here in 2023. Imagine Superheaven, Balance & Composure, Off Road Minivan, Weezer, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains in a blender and you’ll get a feel for the sound you’re about to encounter.… Continued →

Gametime Drops Surprise New Song "Aspire (Create The Future)"

We are on a roll today with a certain theme, a theme of pop-punk/emo/easycore glory and this is yet another incredible new song. Gametime just dropped a surprise new song titled “Aspire (Create The Future)” which you can listen to below. The song is available now on all digital networks. Find the band on Instagram @gametime_kc. Their sound kind of ends up between Yellowcard, Over It, State Champs, At The Wayside, Home Grown, New Found Glory, and older Relient K but a completely fresh and original take.… Continued →

Slow Coming Day Premiere Brand New Song at IAMTUNEDUP That Will Absolutely RULE Your Weekend

Slow Coming Day is crushing it, I mean absolutely slamming it with this new song titled “Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace”. This is the band’s return to new recorded music as a group which is being said of almost 2 decades but I guess those special Indie Vision Music songs from a few years ago will remain unknown secret hits 😉 This song just like all their other music, hits in all the right places and soars like so many other songs fail to do.… Continued →

Anberlin "Convinced" EP, Out Now!

Anberlin have just released their brand new 5 song EP titled “Convinced” and it’s available worldwide today. Thoughts on this new outing from scene faves, Anberlin? I kinda wished they named this EP “Conversate” because it would remind me of my favorite Anberlin album, “Cities”, and just sounds fun. The last ep and this one together make a really diverse set of songs with a sound much more mature and modern in nature. Do I like it personally? Well, I don’t know the answer to that all important question quite yet as I’ve only listened once through.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Lovelorn - Feather

This was one of those ‘one and done’ bands, meaning they only released one album as Lovelorn. However, they were connected directly and indirectly to a number of other projects. Vocalist Jayson Holmes had been in metalcore band Eso-Charis, and later formed The Handshake Murders (who mostly recorded on secular labels). Corey Putman (Eso-Charis, Norma Jean) and Arthur Green (Eso-Charis, Living Sacrifice) also made appearances on the album. The album is a wonderfully strange concoction of emo-core, hardcore, indie rock and math rock–almost like Roadside Monument meets Coalesce, but with bits of Karate thrown in just because.… Continued →

Names Without Numbers "Winter Wars" Out Now!

The absolutely stunning new single from my friends in Names Without Numbers titled “Winter Wars”, is out now on all digital networks and also streaming in the Pop Punk Dads Spotify playlist. This song reminds the listener of all the great times you had in the past with nostalgia running rampant throughout the entirety but not so overbearing that it’d distract one from drawing modern parallels to what’s so great about new music. I really dig the fast pace of the song right from the get-go.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Twothirtyeight - Songs Will Write the Words

Early 2000s emo, you gotta love it! One of the best, and painfully one of the most obscure in the genre was twothirtyeight (or sometimes 238). The band hailed from Pensacola, FL in the state’s panhandle. Florida seemed to be a haven for emo and hardcore during that era, and many of those bands ended up on Birmingham, AL’s Takehold Records, and then eventually on Tooth & Nail when they bought Takehold’s roster and much of its back-catalogue. Twothirtyeight played a style of emo that minimized the hardcore influence and instead delved into a deeply emotional form of indie rock, like secular counterparts in Braid, Cursive, or Christie Front Drive.… Continued →

I’m finally getting around to doing a quick write up on some favorite releases and songs from the past year. Read below and feel free to post your own favorites of 2022 that I’m sure were accidentally skipped on my own list (and maybe even have yet to be discovered).… Continued →

Indie Vision Music x Tooth and Nail Records - I'm Your Biggest Fan 2 (21 Years Ago)

A word document popped up in my Dropbox while I was searching for old files. It showed that the tentative line up for the “I’m Your Biggest Fan 2” compilation that I assembled for Tooth & Nail Records on March 11th 2002, 21 years ago. A couple bands had to be swapped for a couple reasons but the final lineup is pretty close to what I had planned out. I have created a little collage video with a couple song samples from the compilation through YouTube which you can view below.… Continued →

Letter Kills Creates Quite the Buzz

Letter Kills which were a emo-indie-pop-punk band from the early 00’s that dropped some independent songs, signed to Island Records, released a huge sounding record called “The Bridge”, played around the country for a few years then just disappeared as quickly as they appeared. Lead Vocalist Matt Shelton went on to record with The Wedding as well some great solo songs and recently formed “Panther City Riots“. As a band they were strong and their delivery was just as good as ANY other band at that time.… Continued →

Indie Vision Music Premiere: Names Without Numbers "Florida" (Official Lyric Video)

Indie Vision Music is proud to premiere the Lyric Video for the brand new track “Florida” from the midwest Indie-Pop-Rock act – Names Without Numbers. The song is titled “Florida” and is their most hotly anticipated new song, a track that sets them apart from the sameness and a rise above the generic. This is simply put, great music and THE perfect introduction to a band know for their soaring melodies and emotional storytelling. If you’ve been thirsting for an amazing rock song with hooks that rides that “indie” edge without sounding boring or repetitive, then this is a track that’ll make you a fan from the start.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Coolidge - Trapped

The best way I can describe Coolidge is as a sort of ‘prequel supergroup.’ All of the members are now well-known for their contributions to indie rock, though none of them were very well-known at the time, and Coolidge remains a fairly obscure blip on the map of alternative music. Formed in 1992, the band featured Damien Jurado on bass and vocals, David Bazan (Pedro the Lion, Headphones, Lo Tom) on drums, and Eben Haase (Blenderhead, Don’t Know) on guitar. They played an intense and unique form of emo-core that interweaved lo-fi indie rock into the mix.… Continued →

Indie Vision Music Most Wanted Band Reunions of 2023

Merry Christmas, Friends! I’m going to type up some thoughts on bands that should most definitely reunite in 2023 to 1) Play an anniversary set, 2) Re-Release a classic album on either vinyl, tape, or cd with bonus features (and band commentary) and 3) Throw some new and/or unreleased tracks at us that we most definitely need to hear. Thoughts and ideas can be found below…. Oh, and Tim Taber if you’re reading this, I hope you’ll consider the words below and incorporate them into future plans with Transparent Productions here in Orange County and Southern California in general.… Continued →

Names Without Numbers - New Song "Florida" Coming Soon

Names Without Numbers are back in a big way on January 13th. Their new song “Florida” will drop on that date and we have a little teaser to offer all of you. This is without a doubt the band’s strongest song to date and further reminds me of just how good they are, not just in regards to indie music but rock n roll as a whole. There is a lot of content floating around out there passing off as legitimate music but really lacks the meat and substance.… Continued →
