Song of the Day: Dogwood - In The Line of Fire

With regard to the news of today that is surely causing friend to turn against friend, family members against each other, man against man, woman against woman, and the general disregard for one’s truth, with precious life taking a back seat, I thought I’d share a song that fits today’s message. This song is called “In The Line of Fire” and it appears on Dogwood’s 2nd full length record, “Through Thick and Thin” (1997). It’s a great song and the sentiment still rings true.… Continued →

Another band reemerging from a long hiatus, Gametime, has dropped 2 new songs. One of those newest songs is titled “Out of the Dark” and features Dogwood vocalist Josh Kemble on BGVs. The Family Cast Podcast Takes a Look Back at The 2001 Dogwood Album, "Matt Aragon"

The Family Cast Podcast which is run by Josh Kemble of Dogwood and St Didacus, has just posted a wonderful look back on that monumental Dogwood album, “Matt Aragon”. Quite honestly this is the rare album that meshed Punk Rock and Christianity in ways that most other bands couldn’t quite articulate for that time period. This album dropped right after 9/11 at a time of great despair, brokenness, and ultimately a lot of soul searching, with “Matt Aragon” coming to mend all those questions and disbelief which many of us felt at a really dark time in human history.… Continued →

Namesake (Arizona) Emerge From a Long Hiatus To Drop Songs on Digital Networks

A small, independent punk rock band from the late 90’s/early 00’s called “Namesake” that you may have blinked and missed, are back with a special “Demos & Legacy Recordings” release through digital networks. The release features their long lost music including that song “Michigan Avenue” that appeared on “I’m Your Biggest Fan Vol. 2” that I put together years ago for Tooth & Nail and lies dormant in the dusty bins of yesteryear. The band had a lot of passion and talent and could have been the next big thing but sadly ended much too soon.… Continued →

Portuguese Christian Punk and Hardcore on Spotify

Hey Everyone! I pray all is well! I wanted to inform everyone of a new Spotify playlist I put together. I've been listening to a lot of foreign Christian artists lately. Portuguese is the second most foreign language of artists in my collection, so I thought people need to hear and know about this.

Song of the Day: Incomplete - Last Night

We now approach the 20th anniversary of this now classic punk rock split release between 1 huge fan favorite band – Dogwood, and 1 lesser known, extremely underrated melodic “new school punk” band, Incomplete. I’m left feeling sentimental just looking at the simple artwork and being reminded of two extremely important bands of my youth. I first discovered Incomplete while in High School. I don’t remember who passed a demo to me but I held on to it tightly and followed the band right into “I’m Your Biggest Fan Vol.… Continued →

Joel Piper Covers Classic 1997 Dogwood Song and It is Out Now!

Joel Piper (Lifelong/Avery Pkwy/Ex-Confide/Ex-Dismissed/Ex-Olivia the band) has surprisingly covered and recorded a version of the little heard and now classic 1997 Dogwood track, “In The Line of Fire”. This is a truly unique song and is sure to raise those eyebrows but at the same time bringing hope to so many people. Check out the song now on all digital networks and streaming sites. I always considered this a really emotional ballad and perspective not heard much in popular “Christian” music.… Continued →

The Best of 1997: Favorite Hits From 20 Years Ago

Yep, the list you’ve all been waiting for (not really) is finally here. Feel free to offer up some laughs and critical remarks for the music I listened to the most 20 years ago. You’ll notice a heavy T&N presence and I just couldn’t help myself. There were a lot of albums and releases I found myself spinning back then and still getting plays today. I think that’s where this list falls in place, it’s the albums that had the longest lasting impact with me and had a catchy sound that I just couldn’t get enough of.… Continued →
