INTERVIEW : A Road Less Traveled

For the past eight years, these five Texans have determinantely traveled the music business road. Many bands have walked (or rather, driven) this path - but A Road Less Traveled has continually proven themselves to be a cut above the rest. With a strong fan base, significant touring schedule, and two full-length releases, ARLT is poised to break through the indie scene rather soon. Their music posseses character, and many instrumental layers. Their songs are catchy and meaningful...and sure to be placed on "repeat." Check out what they had to say in response to a few questions I sent their way:

REVIEW : Ives The Band - The Incredible Story of Mr. Birch

Sayings are funny sometimes.  They say you can’t judge a book by the cover, but they also say that a picture is worth a thousand words.  Ives the Band has thrown a wrench in the works, however, by having the cover art be for an album instead of a book and the lyrics to back them up.… Continued →

REVIEW : Luther-N - Dogmatics

Band: Luther-N Album: Dogmatics Label: YoungSide Records Release Date: Reviewed By: Chris W Tracklisting: 01: The Atonement 02: Rest In Peace 03: Confession 04: Show Me Now 05: I Believe 06: Just By Faith 07: The Show 08: Nobody Move 09: The Table 10: Take My Life 11: Reformation Christian industrial has pretty much stayed in the background of the general music scene. With only a few bands making any kind of name for themselves such as Mortal, Circle Of Dust, and Klank. The cold hard fact in my experience is that when it comes to industrial your either good or downright awful, there’s not much of a middle ground.… Continued →

INTERVIEW : Wolves Among Sleep

Since signing to Blue Duck Records, Wolves Among Sleep has been working hard to establish themselves in the scene. With a name that can be easily confused, a sound that spans genres, and an extreme dedication to fans, this is a hardcore act you will want to check out. Listen in on my chat with bass player Tyler Helstrom during New England's Soulfest.

REVIEW : Switchfoot - New Way to Be Human

Welcome to the second week of '7 Weeks of Switchfoot'! Today we explore their sophomore album, New Way to Be Human which was released in 1999. You know, back when everyone was still freaking out about Y2K. Looks silly in hindsight no? This album sure doesn't as they capitalized on their debut in every way.

REVIEW : Derek Webb - Stockholm Syndrome

Derek Webb's latest offering is a huge departure musically, playing with drum and bass, electro-pop, and other modern dancey sounds. His message is as strong as ever, looking at those who are so used to captivity they are afraid to live any other way.

Welcome to 7 weeks of Switchfoot! Every Tuesday I'll be putting a review of the next album in the discography all the way until November 3rd, in which I'll be reviewing their new album, Hello Hurricane. If you haven't had a chance to check out their back catalogue now's the time!
