Lil' Dre Posts 4 Tracks Ahead of "Live Free" Release

We’re hard at work on our review of Lil’ Dre’s upcoming album Live Free, but you can already check out four of the tracks from this landmark album through Dre’s Soundcloud page. Live Free is chock-full of powerful tracks, but this sample does include a few of my personal favorites (as you’ll read about in the upcoming review), like “Scottie Pippen,” and “P.O.V.” Live Free will drop next week, but while you’re on Dre’s soundcloud, you can also stream his previous effort Homework, which we gave a 5/5, especially noting how “Dissertation” may be one of the most honest and powerful songs out there.… Continued →

REVIEW : Advent - Pain & Suffering

2016 was the year for comebacks. There was bands like Destroy the Runner, Hopesfall, and Advent. Advent has brought their A-game with their comeback. And they bring the pain with their new EP, Pain and Suffering. You could call it a “Revival”. “Wind from the Valley” is the first track of the EP. The bass is thick, the guitars bring in the metal, while the drums are very hardcore style. Joe Musten’s vocals are some of the most violent vocals ever. “Wind from the Valley” sounds like a slower version of the band Nails.… Continued →

They have a new EP, for those interested in brutal death metal/grindcore bands like this one. The EP is called Repulsive Manifestation and is available for free here.

Scott Brownson Kickstarter

Scott Brownson, worship leader and former singer of Pivitplex, is working on a new album inspired by summer camp and for the next 11 days you can help him out by donating through Kickstarter. This project has been years in the making. It came from my life changing experiences on the mountain tops in Montana. The experiences that inspired me to begin writing songs 20 years ago. Those songs took me around the country and overseas playing for thousands of incredible people, but they were all rooted in what it felt like to be in the majestic beauty and unbelievable camaraderie of camp.… Continued →

Anchor and Braille - Songs for the Late Night Drive Home

REVIEW : Anchor & Braille - Songs for the Late Night Drive Home

Even the title of Anchor & Braille’s latest release conjures powerful emotions. Driving at night is certainly a mixed bag of emotions, but I’ve seen my fair share of it. Whether it’s driving through hours of open country fields or through a busy city at five in the morning, there’s a nature inclination to be pensive and introspective. While it’s sometimes good to throw on something with a bit more energy to stay awake, the natural setting is dark, moody, quiet, and empty. Characteristically, Stephen Christian manages to capture this mood to some degree.… Continued →
