WhatDrivesTheWeak Reunites and Signs to Sancrosanct Records

The melodic deathcore band, WhatDrivesTheWeak, has reunited and signed to Sancrosanct Records. The band originally formed in 2008 and put out a full album, Iniquities in 2012. The band went on indefinite hiatus in 2014 and formed Rogue Defector, a progressive deathcore band. The band has reunited and is working on a new material! If this band sounds familiar, it might be because they were apart of the first two Christian Deathcore compilations. Check out their track, “Destroyer”, below!

REVIEW : Civilian - You Wouldn't Believe What Privilege Costs

Last year, a new addition to Tooth & Nail’s growing roster released their second album, and let me tell you that it’s not getting the credit it deserves. “You Wouldn’t Believe What Privilege Costs” by Civilian is one of the best T&N releases in years and here’s why. From the moment the album begins, there’s a feel to the songs that’s hard to pin down. I once related the band to Starflyer 59 in an attempt to figure it out, but that was wrong. They’re heavier and much more layered than the shoegaze SF59.… Continued →

Only days after their last single, “Put It To Death”, Dire has a new track out. It’s called “Only Soul”. This band just can’t put out bad music. REVIEW : Zao - Pyrrhic Victory

Zao is quite the story. They began 24 years ago and are still kicking, releasing music. And it should be said that they’re not just still kicking, they’re bashing the doors in and reminding their fans that there is more to metal than repeated breakdowns and over-produced, cookie-cutter nonsense. Returning with “Pyrrhic Victory,” a five track EP, Zao holds nothing back. It’s five songs of relentless screams from Daniel Weydant, and riffs and riffs and riffs. There’s something special and simple of this type of release.… Continued →

REVIEW : Red - Gone

For over 10 years, Red has been a staple in the music scene rising quickly to fame from their incredible debut album. Over these years they’ve released relatively consistent solid albums. The only exception is the 2013 “Release the Panic;” a subpar and disappointing effort. On the adverse, 2015’s “Of Beauty & Rage” was the band’s greatest achievement. It was a journey through hell and escaping to heaven much like The Divine Comedy – a theme from their music since “Innocence & Instinct” in 2008. Coming off from their strongest album, how does this newest LP hold up?… Continued →

Bring Anberlin Back!

While Anberlin remain as a much loved personal favorite and staple of my music diet, I can’t help but wonder if it has been just too short of time for a “reunion” to happen. What say you, is 3 years not enough time to have a full Anberlin reunion, tour, and album or should they wait a couple more years? I guess if Underoath can come back so soon, so can Anberlin. The members of Anberlin can all have their own unique spin off projects and solo stuff but nothing will ever compete in the same fashion with the mighty music of Anberlin.… Continued →

The Mexican deathcore band My Place Was Taken has joined the roster of Rottweiler Records. The band formed in 2014 with Guitarist Abraham Barberi and Vocalist Jesus Salas. They came together to see if they could help change the drug, alcohol and violent part of their home town, Matamoros, Mexico: the metal scene.
