Have you heard of Real?

The band released one LP 2001’s Breathe on the short lived Mercy Street Records that also released Seventh Day Slumber’s first 2 LP’s & 2 little known band’s: Broken (rap core) & Salt (southern rock). Real’s sound could be described as nu-metal with a hard rock twist. Not much can be found on the band, but from sites listing the CD for sale. Consisting of 11 tunes, the band rocks hard and is one of my favorite albums from the early 2000s. Indie stations had played a few of the songs Breathe, Let It Be & Downfall.… Continued →

Have you heard of Sly’s Alter Ego?

SAE was a fun short-lived ska/pop punk band from Oklahoma circa early to mid-2000s. Their music has even been referred to as “skip hop”! RIYL: Must Build Jacuzzi, Skamikaze, Honeylocust, They released an EP & a full length on the Thin King Entertainment label which also released music from Awaiting Isaac and Radial Angel. Their album Less Talky Talky, More Rocky Rocky is incredibly hard to track down. Every now and then it will be sold on Amazon. Finally got a hold of my copy a few weeks ago!… Continued →

American Arson Debut "Unbreakable", Launch Album Preorders

The much-beloved punk rock duo American Arson is back and set to bring their Facedown Records debut LP to the world. A Line In The Sand officially hits shelves 7/3, but the band has dropped their lead single, “Unbreakable”, to help whet your appetite in the meantime. Check it out below. This LP is set to be the most ambitious and lyrically-bold work the band has done so far and sees the band crossing even more genre lines to make music that is undeniably authentic. Track List: 1.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Point of Recognition - Day of Defeat

SoCal hardcore band Point of Recognition (or Point of Wreckinthangs as they were affectionately known by fans) released 3 full-lengths, an EP and a pair of split releases before disbanding in the mid-2000s. Members popped up elsewhere in the scene, but the band’s existence was sadly short. Nonetheless, their impact was felt strongly in both the Christian and secular hardcore scenes. Playing a heavy form of “new school” or “tough guy” hardcore, they stuck close to their roots, not following into the more and more metal-influenced versions of hardcore that were developing rapidly around them.… Continued →

Relient K Drop Live Album

In something of a surprise (at least to me), Relient K released a new live album on Spotify minutes ago. The 15 tracks that appear on the release include one track from Two Lefts, a few choice selections off Mmhmm, and the rest are from varied releases after that. Looking forward to giving this a good listen. You can also pick up the live vinyl HERE, however it appears to contain 9 songs rather than 15. Who’ll be checking this out??… Continued →

Risen add 2nd Vocalist

Risen, up and coming metalcore band from Indianapolis, had just added Travis Fields as second and “unclean” vocalist. Fields cut his teeth in Indiana band A World Apart before joining Risen this year. The band, also featuring Jammin Shue on guitar (also formerly of A World Apart), clean vocalist Chandler Ballinger, Mason Beard Beard on drums (also of Symphony of Heaven, Mystic Winter), bassist Heidi Dendler and guitarist Hyperion Zhang, are currently writing their debut album through Apollyon Productions.… Continued →

Support Outnumbered, Buy a Shirt or Hoodie

Jason Parker who played in Focused also played in the band Outnumbered. They produced a demo or two and had members who played in The Blamed, Stavesacre, Focused, etc. The band played quite a bit back in the early to mid-90’s and was definitely a spirit-filled hardcore band. They have put up some new merch for sale right here and hopefully will gather interest to see what happens in the near future with recordings. Stay tuned.… Continued →

Keith Settles - Four Years (New Song)

Keith Settles is a name you may not instantly recognize but in terms of IVM past history, the name contains significant weight. Jess started out the IVM interview series on YouTube way back in mid 00’s and then when Keith Settles came aboard to help out, he created some of the finest video interviews we had up until that point. In fact, those are the last video interviews conducted by IVM (see YouTube page). Keith was frontman for a group out of So. Cal. called The Parousia and as of the last couple of years he has gone solo with some teeth clenching, honest tunes with an ep titled “Stories To Tell” set to drop on May 15th independently.… Continued →

Benjamin Daniel Drops Debut Indie Full Length

Benjamin Daniel (Ben Kunz) a friend and constant IVM supporter over the years has just dropped his debut full length titled “Shaping Season Vol. 1”. If you could imagine a collaboration of David Bazan, Sufjan Stevens, Manchester Orchestra, My Epic, Anathallo, and The Fray, you’ll get a hint as to the direction of these songs. This is beauty in it’s most purest form and a stripped down approach that takes the listener on a moody journey through the stories and music of Mr. Benjamin Daniel.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Good Saint Nathanael - Making Repairs

Good Saint Nathanael is the alter-ego of Nate Allen (Destroy Nate Allen). Whereas DNA was quirky and sometimes frantic acoustic punk, the saintly version is subdued, still quirky, but much more poignant indie folk. Last year’s Hide No Truth was filled with ardent reflections on life, God’s grace, and themes of spiritual abuse and the need for healing. While the video for “Making Repairs” was filmed last spring, it was only released last week. And it couldn’t be more timely. Many of us are slowing down, taking stock, re-examining our lives in light of quarantine and disease.… Continued →

Have you heard of Gears of Redemption?

Oklahoma’s Gears of Redemption is Nu-metal at its finest imho. RIYL: Korn, These 5 Down, etc… Complete with a thumping bass guitar, driving drums & angst ridden vocals, this 4 piece band brings the controlled chaos. 2000’s The War of Blood & Rust (released by Godfather records) was the only album to emerge before the band disbanded. The rockier indie Christian shows showcased This Is Me, Shedding Skin & My Life in their playlists. Their song No Time found its way on Cross Rhythms Extreme Music Sampler Vol 4.  … Continued →

Song of the Day: dighayZoose -Dancing in Concert with the Infinite

dighayZoose was one of those outlier alternative bands in the Christian music industry. One could describe their music as funk metal and did not have much of an equivalent in the Christian market alas Scaterd Few with a sound akin to Jane’s Addiction or Red Hot Chili Peppers, but in a much harder vein. The 4 man band only put out a couple demos and 2 full LPs along with a live album before disbanding.  After disbanding, they released an LP on R.E.X as Hot Pink Turtle.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Light The Way - Hope

This Easter Sunday is unlike anything our generation has ever faced. Most of us are in quarantine, secluded to our homes and celebrating a momentous occasion from the comfort of our arm chairs. No standard Easter Services, no fellowship in person, and no Sunday school. This is an unprecedented week, month, and year in our histories that is being literally written before our eyes. Despite the seclusion, despite the dreariness and loneliness for millions we all know there is an answer. An unrelenting, purposeful Love through our savior, Jesus.… Continued →

Indie Vision Music Introduces Light and Dark Theme On All Browsers

This week, Indie Vision Music introduced our very first theme switch design that allows you to alternate between “Light(side)” and “Dark(side)”. Pick your side and choose wisely! Kidding, but seriously this new theme switcher is pretty awesome. Just tried it on desktop Google Chrome and the “Light” one looks amazing. It works on both mobile or desktop versions of the Indie Vision Music website. I have long been wanting to switch up the site and offer the option of a lighter color so I feel as though this option is best move for us because it retains the original (2016) colors while also incorporating a lighter aesthetic.… Continued →

David from Run Kid Run has taken to the band’s Facebook page and has been posting some acoustic tracks lately. Seems quite possible there may be more to come yet, but time will tell.… Continued →

The Letter Black Signs To Rockfest Records

In an announcement made earlier tonight, The Letter Black announced they’ve signed with Rockfest Records. Not much else is firmed up at the time of this post, such as when to expect the first single or new album, but there are shows scheduled starting in June (tentatively, for obvious reasons). Rockfest Records has been in the practice of signing some really great bands since their inception just over 2 years ago…what do you guys think of this signing?… Continued →

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Release New Song/Lyric Video, "Brace Yourself"

Later this year, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus will release The Emergency ep, and while an exact release date appears to be unannounced at this time, the band has released a new lyric video for the track “Brace Yourself”, which will appear on the ep. The song, as many others lately, seems to be heavily consistent with current events. This is the second single to drop off this upcoming release, the first being “A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Called LA”. Check out the lyric video for “Brace Yourself” below.… Continued →
