Cleveland’s Six Feet Deep were instrumental in the advent of “new school” hardcore that was emerging in the early- to mid-90s. They were one of the few Spirit-Filled Hardcore bands that didn’t end up on Tooth & Nail or Solid State (No Innocent Victim was the other major example). Small Wars return with a new digisingle titled “The Devil and Better Angels” which will drop on November 17th through Fair Vaux. They are recommended for fans of Face to Face, Alkaline Trio, Samiam, and I would say a little Gaslight Anthem, Frank Turner, and even Hot Water Music. This band was awesome imho. The early days of Christian hxc bands had met their match with this phenomenal cd The Road Less Travelled. Songs like Congruent, Purify, Slip, & Steadfast are just pummeling.  It was like a breach of hxc w/ metalcore. Myk Porter & Matt Traxler went to to form an awesome emo band called Brandston (whom I got to see live several years ago) after but the band got its start in 91 in Ohio. Legendary, underground, Midwest technical hardcore/metalcore band Subsist announce a vinyl pressing of their acclaimed (and originally self-released on CD only) album The Rhythm Method. The Midwest band released 2 CDs in the late 90s/early 00s before calling it quits. Those in the know have always been aware of their greatness, despite their underground status. Zao had already made a name for themselves, working up from the underground, with a 7″, cassette demo(s) and 2 full-lengths. They were quickly becoming known for taking hardcore in a new direction. The classic 1997 scene defining debut “Letterbox” by those passionate emo rockers Brandtson, is getting the vinyl treatment via the recently relaunched Steadfast Records. The album has been remixed and remastered and will be available on CD/Tape/Vinyl. I remember buying the original Letterbox on CD from Steadfast Records back in the day when you had to order via snail mail. ZAO is reissuing their classic mid 90’s debut “All Else Failed” with new mastering job and redone artwork, through Steadfast Records. Steadfast Records is owned and run by Matt Traxler who is a former member of Six Feet Deep, Brandtson, and a ton of other bands over the years. The label has had a resurgence of sorts and has been re-releasing their old albums in Digital format and now physical media. Pre-order this ZAO album in a few different bundles right here.
