Earth Groans is a metal band with an explosive, thundering sound that grips its listeners with their sound. Interest in the band in the past few years seems to have skyrocketed among fans of the genre and for good reason. Jason Wisdom has a real talent for putting out really great music, whether it be in Becoming the Archetype, Death Therapy, The Reversalist, among others. This past week Death Therapy teamed up with Impending Doom frontman, Brook Reeves to deliver a cover of “Reject” by Living Sacrifice. Fit For A King has recorded a live set at the Masquerade in Atlanta, GA that they say is essentially the same set they would have been performing live had current events made touring impossible. The set will streamed free on Twitch Thursday, 9/10 and will be a release show of sorts for the new album, “The Path”, due out a week from Friday. In what seems to be a surprise announcement, Wolves At The Gate just let all their fans know that they are releasing an EP titled “DAWN” that will be released on October 8th through Solid State Records. It appears to be a remix release with possible new versions of some of their classics? Anyone have more info? If you asked me what the heaviest Christian release of all time was, a strong contender would be the self-titled EP from Portand’s Warlord (not to be confused with the secular heavy metal band of the same name). One of the earliest releases on the Tooth & Nail imprint, Solid State Records, their debut EP featured deep, dark, heavy riffs and lengthy songs. In fact, this 4-song effort clocks in at longer than some full-lengths, due to the longevity of the tracks. When Extol’s first album came out in 1998, the Christian hard music scene had been dominated by hardcore and the then-developing metalcore sound. This was being spearheaded prominently by labels like Solid State Records (a division of Tooth & Nail), and Facedown Records. Enter Norway’s Extol. No one quite knew what to do with them. Sure, there was still an active underground metal scene, but Solid State had not signed any heavy metal bands yet–only hardcore bands that dabbled in metal. Last week, Earth Groans announced the release of their upcoming ep, “Prettiest of Things”, which will drop on March 6th on Solid State Records, so you don’t have long to wait. Longtime metalcore band The Devil Wears Prada is back with an incredible album that should be the surprise of the year. Let’s be honest, metalcore has become somewhat predictable with only a few bands making quality music. Even still, it’s become stagnant as there has been very little growth in the genre over the past decade. This is where The Act comes into play. Coming off of their undeniably best album to date, Wolves at the Gate is back with their fourth release. Eclipse begins with “The Cure,” which was the first single released for the album.
