Pennylane 20th Anniversary of "From Paradise To Parking Lots"

In 2004, I released the greatest EP that very little people got a chance to hear. MySpace didn’t have a big enough reach and I was a nobody from Orange County with Indie Vision Music, trying to play with the big boys. This band – Pennylane, deserved worldwide acclaim and their live shows plus studio performances were a testament to that endearing appeal of music and message. These Hawaii gents that uprooted their lives to move to Portland, Oregon and chase their dreams was the very reason the record was titled “From Paradise to Parking Lots”.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Tonio K. - Without Love

Tonio K. was one of those hard-to-classify artists. He employed elements of rock, alternative, new wave, singer-songwriter, and more. He was too alternative for the mainstream, but not quite weird enough for indie rock. Let’s just call it rock and roll, shall we? Born in Southern California, the son of Armenian immigrants (born Steven Krikorian), K began his career with garage rock band The Raik’s Progress (who opened for Buffalo Springfield), then played a stint with Buddy Holly’s band the Crickets, but he got his first real break with a publishing deal for Intersong.… Continued →

Best of 2023: Rob Jensen

1. Lacey Sturm – Kenotic Metanoia: This November Lacey Sturm released her first album in nearly 8 years. To say it was worth the wait is an understatement. If it’s going to take 8 years to release a new album, this is the caliber release you want to shoot for. Lacey sounds as good as ever and has dropped an exceptional album here. It easily outshines her previous release, Life Screams, and is, in my opinion, her best work to date, including her material with Flyleaf.… Continued →

Too Bad Eugene Finish Recording New Album and New Single Out December 14th!

Too Bad Eugene have just finished recording their brand new album. The band will debut their new single on December 14th and you do not want to miss out on this song. I feel that it’s their strongest work by far and ranks up there with the best of the best in melodic punk rock. You like good music well then you’re going to sink those teeth in deep to this new song, and the album too I’m sure. I’m almost 99.9% positive that I’ll dig this new album so much that it’ll rank up there high on my year end list of 2024.… Continued →
