A personal fave of mine, a band we call Switchfoot is joining up with world renown Canadian rock band Nickelback and California based grunge-alt-rock band, Stone Temple Pilots (STP) for a run of dates this summer/fall. Then It Ends, (the solo project of A Past Unknown’s Grant Lilly) debuted a new track today called “Welcome Home”. Preceding this, a re-release of “Despised” dropped last month (if you missed it, check it out HERE) and the song is a real monster. Grant has a full length album written and has plans  to release it track by track over the course of 2020, with another new track, “Addiction” dropping next month. First of all, Furnace Fest will make a return in 2020 with an as yet to be determined/announced lineup….except in the case of BELOVED. Yep, the highly underrated Solid State Records band who released an Ep and Full length on Solid State Records (plus some other indie recordings pre-Solid State) before calling it quits with a few members joining other bands like Advent and The Almost (among others), IS BACK and ready to rock your faces off. It wasn’t long ago that GFM announced an acoustic ep, set for release on December 1st. With the release date being just about a week out, I thought I’d tap out a quick review on it. I was fortunate enough to have caught the band’s recent show at the Space Coast State Fair in Melbourne, FL. The show was great and sitting right there on the merch table were copies of the acoustic ep, available a few weeks ahead of the scheduled release date. It’s late October and I’m walking through Disney Springs in Orlando, FL to the House of Blues for the Victorious War tour featuring Alter Bridge and Skillet. It’s the second of two nights the tour is here and the last night of the tour altogether. I make my way through a shoulder to shoulder crowd trying to find anywhere I can stand and have a decent view without ruining someone else’s. Being 6’4” I ruin the view of most people I stand in front of. Crazy enough, there’s a spot I find that’s almost as if it was just waiting for me; back of the room (so I’m not directly in front of anyone), yet only 30 or so feet from the stage.… Continued →

AsFireFalls is a hard rock/techno/metal band from Boise, Idaho. The 4-piece is currently independent, but strike me as the type that could get snapped up by a fortunate label out there somewhere. I got my first taste of Skillet in the early 2000’s just after I came to know the Lord. I was drawn to their raw, gritty, heavy sound because, musically, I heard some similarities to Marilyn Manson, a band I’d been a tremendous fan of in my B.C. days. As the years went by, as is to be expected, the band’s sound changed a bit, mellowing here and there, adding string sections, adding electronic sounds (or at least making them a bit more prominent), having a much more produced sound, songs that are more radio friendly…the list goes on.… Continued →

Skillet has release a music video for their single, “Legendary”, which will appear on the band’s upcoming release, “Victorious”, which is set to release August 2nd on Atlantic Records. This particular song is a very good representation of what you can expect from the new album with some tracks heavier, some as heavy, and others mellower. You take the average of all of the varied intensities/styles and you’d get this particular song. I’ll be posting a review on this album in the near future, so stay tuned for that, but after having heard it, I’m really looking forward to picking it up.… Continued →
