Appearing out of nowhere is a new indie pop/edm project from Aaron Sprinkle and Jessie Villa called “Luna Wave”. They just released the 5 song self titled debut ep through digital networks. Get a sample of it via Spotify below. This well produced and composed little ep features 5 songs that bridge the divide between indie pop, edm, and what remains of alternative rock. If you enjoyed some of the sounds on the last Aaron Sprinkle album “Real Life”, he takes it a step further into pop territory and you’re going to be a fan. Aaron is a talented fellow and this ep is a perfect example. Enjoy!

Blank Books a band that features world renown producer (and musician) Aaron Sprinkle and his legendary drumming/songwriter genius brother, Jesse Sprinkle, have announced their debut EP which is available digitally now and it is available on CD for pre-order right here. This is the band I told you about a few years ago and one i’ve eagerly been anticipating since Jesse shared a song stream with me quite a while ago. This band and its’ members have a quite a music pedigree so you can only expect the very best from these two. I can’t even begin to list off all the bands they’ve been in, a part of, and produced over the years. I am sure you can wiki it but I recall Poor Old Lu, Rose Blossom Punch, Solo work, Fair, Demon Hunter, Dead Poetic, Vekora, and so many more. In fact, if you have a list feel free to post it in the comments. [Thanks synnr sainte jebbeau for the news tip] Oh and listen below ;)

Aaron Sprinkle has turned his impressive talents to a new genre: pop. Is it a good direction for him? Yes and no. He brings a high level of production quality and songwriting to the genre which I find refreshing, but while it’s musically superb and unique in his discography, the lyrics do suffer a drop in depth – or maybe I’m just not on the right wavelength.

Today’s Video Flashback comes from the Alt-Rock band, Poor Old Lu, which released several (awesome) albums in the early to late 90’s on Alarma Records. The band attempted a short lived come back of sorts in 2002 with their Tooth & Nail album “The Waiting Room”. The band featured brothers Aaron Sprinkle (Fair/Rose Blossom Punch/Studio Producer/Solo) and Jesse Sprinkle (has gone on to play in bands like Demon Hunter, Dead Poetic, Morellas Forest, Serene, and solo work), Nick Barber (also of Fair), and Scott Hunter. The band were true pioneers but mostly were unknown outside the confines of the underground Christian market. This song “All Pretty For the TV” appeared on the band’s “Mindsize” album (1993 Alarma Records). “Sin” and “Mindsize” were some of my first “Christian” alt-rock purchases in the early 90’s while I was in high school after discovering the “scene” (again). Such a great band.
