This band signifies much of what was great about the mid-00s emo movement. The Last Broadcast’s sound drew from influences as diverse as punk, post-hardcore, lo-fi indie rock, and even baroque pop. I know very little about this band, unfortunately, but here’s what we do know.
They released an independent CD (burned by the band members themselves) in 2003, consisting of 7 tracks. Then they released a 4-song EP entitled Matthew, through Lansing, Michigan-based Selah Records, who also put out releases from Anathallo, Bloodlined Calligraphy, and Anah Aevia. The EP was recorded and mixed by none other than Tim Bushong.
Then apparently, the band must have broken up shortly afterwards. Some of the members have played on other projects. Perhaps most notably, vocalist Daniel (Danny) Gleason had previously been the vocalist for Lansing metalcore act Anah Aevia. Some of the other members seem to have disappeared from recorded music. If you know more about the band or their members, leave us a comment below!
You get a bonus treat this week though. The only tracks I can find online include the whole EP Matthew. Enjoy!
