REVIEW : Propaganda - Crooked
Let me start off by admitting that I wasn’t exactly looking forward to this album. Now, that’s not to say I didn’t think I’d like it at all, because that’s certainly not the case. First of all, I’d describe myself as someone who enjoys the occasional Propaganda song, but like so many other artists, I simply have difficulty enjoying an entire album. Secondly, I was getting the impression through the song titles and reviews that Crooked was going to be political in its lyrics. As someone who only has a minor interest in politics, and some general disdain for the discussions and attitudes that seem to directly stem from political topics/activities, I was worried that some of the lyrics here might add to my frustration.… Continued →

Introducing: Norelle K
I’d like to take a moment and introduce you readers to the talented sounds of female singer-songwriter Norelle K (ZAP Records). This gifted songstress just released her debut 3 song ep titled “Consider the Trees” through ZAP Records this week. Think of a cool combination of Bjork meets Alanis Morrisette meets Dolores O’Riordan (The Cranberries). Songs are spiritual in nature but not along the CCM lines. This is independent music meant to be enjoyed by the vast amount of masses regardless of personal taste.… Continued →

Happy July 4th and 17 Years Of IVM!
17 years ago I launched this website, mostly to crickets and little notice. I still remember launch year with the ad sponsorships, a few show sponsorships around Orange County/So Cal, and the online store that this website was based on. Yeah, in year 2000 IVM was just an online independent Christian Music Webstore with a focus on indie releases from a collection of artists/record labels across the globe. It was a meager, hobby based operation run all by myself from a room in my home. I did all the (embarrassing) website creation, order fulfillment, purchasing, etc in my off hours from the real job that paid the bills (real job still pays the bills).… Continued →

REVIEW : Michael W. Stand - 3 Song Acoustic
I had been patiently awaiting this 3 song acoustic release since it was first announced via Thumper Punk Records. So much about this little ep spells perfection to me. I have been a fan of Mike’s work since as long as I can remember. I first heard “Against The Grain” (Altar Boys) as a mere youngster just discovering what music was like in the 80’s and especially what “Christian” music would mean to me in later years.
Mike’s extremely diverse discography over the years with everything from Altar Boys, solo work, Clash Of Symbols, Altar Billies, and now this new rockabilly-acoustic leaning release, is nothing short of extraordinary and dare I say, LEGENDARY.… Continued →

REVIEW : Gaffer Project - Slowknife: A Study of Fear
Gaffer Project's first full-length is a promising emotional hardcore release that touches on elements of Attalus, Hotel Books, and Rival Choir but ultimately feels disjointed musically.
TAKE - Abandoned (Vegas Heavy Hardcore Metal)
Do you ever sit and ponder why you’ve been hurt, the reasons, and seek a little relief from the trials? Well this song spells it out and in doing so, makes for a truly unique listen from start to finish. I am so impressed with these guys and glad they got back together. This is a song about hope, about answers, and a call to action. Get ready for TAKE to blast your stereo with their passionate, furious, and pure aggressive music. I’m telling you this is solid stuff.… Continued →
