REVIEW : Fighting Jacks - Decade

Don’t listen to this album if you want to feel happy. Lyrically and musically, this is moody alternative rock taken to its logical conclusion. Decade brims with melancholy: “All the beauty I ever wanted is going to fade away” (“Fade; Decay”); “…helpless in will, my body just gave up” (“Do You Wanna Find Out?”); “There’s no one on the road that I can call a friend” (“Closer”). Fighting Jacks like their vocals and guitars loud, making for some of the best rock I’ve heard in a long while on songs like “Fade; Decay” and “Come On Come On.”… Continued →

Check out the page on HGTV website here and and get ready to watch on April 3rd.… Continued →

REVIEW : Ruslan - Indie Jones II

Just because some people use a lot of words does not mean that they say a lot. This linguistic dilemma has been expressed in popular culture through numerous means, from Miss Othmar in the Peanuts cartoons, to the less specific (and pejorative) title of “chatterbox” and its synonyms. Unfortunately, I feel that Indie Jones II falls into such a predicament. This is unfortunate because Ruslan actually has interesting things to say (hear his controversial song “Random Thoughts 4 (Shai Linne)”). Not only that, but he is particularly well spoken, as made evident by his album reviews on YouTube.… Continued →

REVIEW : In the Verse - Transformer

Once in a while, I’ll come across a band that slipped beneath my radar and wonder why I hadn’t heard of them sooner, wishing that I had. In the Verse is a perfect example of that. Hailing from WI, the 5-piece band brings a lot to the table for avid hard rock fans. The band is uncompromising in their message and is determined “to bring the message of Christ back into the lime-light with uncompromising, deep lyrical content while maintaining a rich musical experience.” And they certainly do.… Continued →

Family Force 5 Returns As The Duo Now Known As FF5 and Drops New Ep

Family Force 5 have returned to the music scene with a vengeance and are here to take over the pop spectrum with their heavy dose of HOT 80’s dance like anthems with modern sensibilities. That’s not all though because the group is now a duo of the brothers Josh and Jacob Olds under the name FF5. This new EP “El Compadre” combines the best elements of their “Dance Or Die” record and turns it up to 11. Everything you loved about past Family Force 5 material is now clearly evident in this new creation.… Continued →

Third Day Is Saying "Farewell"

While I know we don’t cover a lot of what are referred to as “CCM” artists, I’ve never really considered Third Day such. They’ve always just been rock to me and were one of the bands I really got into in Christian music. I still love those guys, especially their albums up until around “Come Together” and maybe an album or two after. So, it’s with a heavy heart, I post about the band packing it in. Farewell guys and thanks for the great music over the years.… Continued →

REVIEW : LOYALS - LOYALS

LOYALS may fill the hole in your musical heart that longs for good pop music. No, we’re not talking about computer generated beats with autotune. We’re talking about real musicians that play memorable songs that are beyond catchy. The first couple of songs offer a few glimpses of what LOYALS has to offer. They’re fairly catchy, however the highlights of the album begins with the single “Skyline.” The song is a lighthearted account of a first date gone wrong. Lyrically, it’s a story that many can relate with and it’s that kind of nostalgia that will keep this song in the heads of many.… Continued →

Mae's "Destination: Beautiful" 15 years later

Today marks 15 years since the release of Mae’s debut album, “Destination: Beautiful”. I personally didn’t find out about these guys until a little after “The Everglow” came out, but after I checked out “Destination: Beautiful” I couldn’t figure out which album I liked more; probably still don’t know, to be honest. What are some of your favorite tracks and memories from this album? 15 years…man, time really flies.… Continued →

UntilWeDie! debut releases Feb 24

UntilWeDie! came to my attention in 2017 when I heard “It Is Well” on a punk compilation. Horatio Spafford might turn over in his grave with the UntilWeDie! version of this famous hymn, but it won’t scare anyone else. The lyrics are straight on, the pace frenetic, and the intentions are serious. It’s glorious. That song put the band on my “I want more list”. Last week I received an advance copy of their about to be released self-titled. The band’s sound is undefinable. Unquestionably rock, but it’s got a definite punk vibe.… Continued →
