Stephen Keech, formerly of Haste the Day, has announced the release of his new album, “I Never Left You”, which is set for release on July 5th. New Blindside!!!
You read that right, there is NEW Blindside headed our way in just a week. After 8 years of silence, the band posted a teaser on social media earlier today and if it’s any indication, they’re not letting up on their aggressive brand of rock one bit. The new song, “Gravedigger” is set to drop on July 1st. So who’s ready for some new material from these guys???… Continued →
Song of the Day: Andy Hunter - Radiate
You might be familiar with a couple of Andy Hunter’s songs. “Go” and “The Wonders of You” have been featured in video games and movies like SSX 3, Need for Speed Underground, and The Italian Job. However, 2002s Exodus is far from a one-hit wonder; every song on the album is brilliant. Today I’d like to share a personal favourite, “Radiate”. While the song clocks in at over eight minutes, it does not drag on at all. Ultimately, it’s an encouraging meditation on Christ’s life which lives in us and through us.… Continued →

Introducing: Strange Her
The guys in this band contacted me to share their new music. At first I was a little hesitant probably due to the name itself but then I listened and was instantly blown away. Strange Her are an explosive indie rock band that would please fans of As Cities Burn, House of Heroes, Emery, The Classic Crime, Anberlin and maybe even a little Silversun Pickups and Funeral for a Friend. Good stuff and uplifting. Songs of substance. Their new album “A Marginal Sea” is out soon and you can check out the new music video for the song “The Scarlet Cord”, below.… Continued →

Light The Way - HOPE (Full Song)
Super pumped to unveil the brand new single from Sacramento, CA. based pop-punk band – Light The Way. This song is titled “HOPE” It is just that, a hopeful reminder of God’s enduring love for us no matter how much we fail or feel defeated, that God will be there with open arms to love us completely. This song really came at the perfect time as I was experiencing some unexpected set backs in my wife’s journey from her 2014 stroke and brain surgery. It’s crazy how little things like an independent pop-punk band can bring even an old Dad like myself much joy and peace.… Continued →
Song of the Day: Okay Lindon - Participation
Cincinnati indie rock band Okay Lindon have released another single in advance of their next album. The album will be a departure from their quirky brand of alternative rock, this time heading into reggae territory. While an unconventional move, for sure, the seasoned band have the ability to pull it off. Plus, the reggae sounds fit the new material well. Founder Dustin Smith claims, “In this song I’m calling out aspects of my evangelical upbringing as ‘escapist theology’ which focused so heavily on an afterlife, that the joys of experiencing union with Christ in the physical world, ourselves, and others is lost.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Bobby Bishop - A Song for Amy
“A Song for Amy” is a sobering song which focuses on issues of sexual assault and the problem of evil. “Why do bad things have to happen to good people?” is the oft-repeated question. Bobby Bishop, who is not only a musician but also a social worker, included this incredible song on his 2003 album The Hip-Hop Alternative (Community’s Call).… Continued →

REVIEW : Leem of Earth - Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and Chapter 3
Atmospheric, floating, literary and lush. Leem of Earth has completed their trilogy with the June 7th release of Chapter 3, the third EP in their belletristic series: Chapter 1, Chapter 2 and Chapter 3. In all three efforts, the band from Pensacola, Florida, creates a fragile wall of sound that hearkens between the fuzz and soundscapes of 90s 4AD shoegaze bands and the ethereal charm of Mazzy Star, The Sundays, Cocteau Twins and The Innocence Mission.

Song of the Day: Plankeye - Open House
Amazingly, this song is now 23 years old, and I still feel the same way about it as I did back then. It’s a fantastic song, and one of the highlights of the Christian alternative rock scene! Plankeye’s first album (“Spill”) was raw and unrefined, showing hints of Orange County punk. While their second album “The Spark” had that same raw energy, the songwriting and musical chops had improved, along with just the right amount of production–not too raw, not too slick. “Open House” is the standout track and has a great message of God’s love and grace even in times of difficulty. … Continued →

Song of the Day: Smoke - Saylavee
Emo is not limited to rock; it can be hip-hop, too. Here is a song from an album that has remained far under the radar – even for underground hip-hop – since its release in 2006. Smoke is a member of Oldominion, a Northwest collective with over 20 members. While Oldominion are outside the margins of Christian music, Smoke’s solo release Bleed is more Christocentric in its lyrics. “Saylavee” focuses around those difficult thoughts and feelings that are inevitable in human life; the lyrics are dense and the sound is wistful.… Continued →

Seeker and Servant are back with a new 4 song Ep that takes on a unique and fresh approach to “worship”. I have loved this band for quite a few years and each new release is like a step into a bright, new beautiful world.
