Cast The Dragon release “Annihilate the Adversary”

Cast the Dragon has released their latest album, “Annihilate the Adversary” on Thumper Punk Records on Sept 18. The album makes for a great listen, full of energy and a message of hope. Dark, brooding punk rock with a hint of gothic elegance woven throughout 15 blistering tracks.  Joshua Lory’s baritone vocals interplay with anthemic guitars, haunting keyboards and punishing drums.  Uncompromising lyrical content focused on keeping God at the center of all things through Jesus/Yeshua our Messiah.  The band’s full tilt sound is reminiscent of The Damned, TSOL, Misfits, Grave Robber and  Scaterd Few.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Brandtson - Days End

When listening to music, do you ever get the feeling you’re hearing something deeply personal, and you’re not really sure if you should be listening in? Of course, recorded music is made to be heard. It’s marketed for consumption. But there are some songs that just seem so intimate it’s like you’re accidentally listening to a private conversation. “Days End” from Brandtson’s debut strikes me that way. I was equally excited and perplexed when I first heard about this new band (in the late 90s). Six Feet Deep had been a staple in the Spirit-filled hardcore scene–passionate and preachy as that genre was known for, when the members changed the band name and style, replaced by the new “emo” tag (at the time, anyway).… Continued →

Audiophile just dropped their brand new 3 song EP titled “Neapolitan” through all digital networks and streaming sites. Check out a Spotify stream of the EP, below. This is a fun little band that harkens back to the golden age of early to mid-00’s pop-punk goodness with plenty current sounds to keep it fresh. It’s like All Time Low, The Starting Line, Mae, We The Kings, Mayday Parade and The Maine meet The 1975 and Jonas Brothers. It’s an eclectic mix that is found on just these 3 songs and the band are sure to win over fans all across the globe.… Continued →

Introducing: Deep Valleys (New Single, "Beyond The Waves" In Post)

Deep Valleys is a band from Buffalo, NY that formed in 2016. Since then, the band has released an ep titled “The Call Of The Void” in Sept 2017, as well as a full album titled, “Goldhaven” that dropped in August of 2019. The newest single, “Beyond The Waves” was released last week and is a pretty great song. The band’s style reminds me of a mix of Thrice and Anberlin. If you’re looking for a new band to check out, I’m gonna recommend these guys.… Continued →

Then It Ends Drop New Song/Video, "Reality"

New Metalcore band, Then It Ends (feat. members of A Past Unknown and Dividing the Masses) have released a new song and a video to go with it for the song “Reality”. Much more melodic than the recently released single, “Depravity”, “Reality” contains great lyrics and heavy moments that contrast the laid back feel heard for most of the track in perfect proportion. “Reality” makes for a great listen for fans of a variety of tastes in music. Check out the video below and let us know if you agree.… Continued →

Coinciding with the release of the new album, “The Path”, which dropped today, Fit For A King has released a new video for the album’s title track. John Cooper (Skillet) Has A Book On The Way, "Awake And Alive To Truth"

John Cooper has written a book that is due out this December called “Awake and Alive to Truth”. John has been on fire on his podcast, “Cooper Stuff” which I highly recommend checking out. From his page, he’s said of the book, “How do you know what’s true when there are so many differing voices telling us what to do? AWAKE & ALIVE TO TRUTH tackles the reigning philosophies of our day and points you to an eternal truth that is unshakeable.” Pre-order HERE.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Blaster the Rocket Man - Hopeful Monsters Are Dying Every Day

Film director Guillermo del Toro and spastic hardcore punk band Blaster the Rocket Man have at least one thing in common. Whereas most of society, and particularly within Christianity, monsters are usually the bad guys, these two artistic entities–operating in disparate fields as the case may be–often take the side of the monster. Pan’s Labyrinth, for instance, juxtaposes the kind but terrifying Pan against the inhuman, yet human, monsters of the Spanish fascists under Francisco Franco. Blaster the Rocket Man uses traditional monster and sci-fi imagery, all the while connecting these images to faith in Christ.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Benjamin Daniel - Good God

“It’s waking up into a bad dream with a good God.” Something about this line is irresistibly compelling to me. Maybe it’s the literal nightmares I’ve been having lately. Maybe it’s the chaos of the current election cycle where any and every event is blown out of proportion or warped to dehumanize the “other”. Riots. Cancel culture. Evil branded as good. It is frankly disorienting, scary, dare I say nightmarish. It is easy to forget God’s goodness in the midst of this. It is easy to overlook that when we need Him most is when we experience the most grace.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Andy Squyres - What Nobody Should Know

If you like John Mark McMillan or John Van Deusen, the honestly and careful wordplay of Andy Squyres will surely feel familiar. Today is the Lord’s day and we are called to rest in Him, but our fallen, chaotic world burdens us and keeps us from this rest. The demands of society, the responsibilities of leading a family, the questions of what life will look like after college, how the election might play, global politics… Much like the psalms, Squyres reminds us that worship are genuine self-reflection are inseparable.… Continued →

Song of the Day: theLionhearted - Lover of the Light

The latest track by theLionhearted begins reminiscent of old From Indian Lakes with even hints of Emery; by the end, it is a tremelo-picked whirlwind of pounding drums and backing gang vocals that feels a bit like what we saw from Attalus. If you know me, I’m a sucker for tracks with huge endings and this fits nicely in the realm of modern indie and post-hardcore. The artwork arguably does not do this track justice – it’s a heartfelt lament and admiration of faith paired with some impressive songwriting.… Continued →

Song of the Day: The Prayer Chain - Fifty-Eight

I had this song on my mind the other day as I was thinking about what song I was going to choose for this week. The modus operandi: Ruminate on a song and make a choice. Find it on YouTube. Listen while I’m writing. Dang. I’ve loved this song for years, but was still surprised at how good it sounded more than 2 decades after it was recorded. I highly recommend headphones! This song has so many layers. So many things that make it great. It’s difficult to know where to begin.… Continued →
