The Pear Republic Release Brand New EP

The Pear Republic have just released “Pop Punk EP” through bandcamp. The quirky band which are relatively new and unheard by most take elements of Pop Punk, Power Pop, Punk Rock and mix it in a blender. They have a sound that would appeal to fans of Weezer, Pixies, Danielson, Ramones, Supernova, Presidents of The United States of America and other 80’s/90’s era power-pop/rock sounds.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Mortal - Cryptic

I’m sure a few of you have been wondering when I was going to eventually get around to covering this important band. Well, wait no longer. Mortal’s roots were in a similarly-named synth-pop project called Mortal Wish. While that version of the band showed promise, it only hinted at the greatness that was to come after a minor name change and a huge change in direction. (FYI: downloads of 2 different Mortal Wish demos are available online if you know where to look for them!) The mysteriously-titled (Lusis means “freedom”), dark and brooding debut hit stores in 1992 via Intense Records, the first in the industrial genre for the otherwise exclusively metal label.… Continued →

Squad 5-0 Secret New Album Vinyl Project

In a somewhat cryptic post, The Blamed shared a picture of a Squad 5-0 test pressing (Vinyl) from United of a new album. Is it a new album or is it a re-release? I’m going with new album! Who here is excited about a brand new Squad 5-0 release that maybe ties together all their music from the 90’s ska-punk stuff all the way through “Late News Breaking”? I think a lot of people are waiting for this much needed studio recorded reunion and we are all holding our collective breaths for some awesome jams.… Continued →

Light The Way to Drop New Music

Light The Way are almost there, I promise. The band will be dropping a new song or teaser very soon. This is the first new music from the band since “Dad Gang EP” in 2019 and will be their first proper full length follow-up to “False Memory Syndrome” that released almost 4 years ago. Follow the band through all their socials and links by clicking right here. This will without a doubt be the biggest and best thing the band has EVER released in their short history together.… Continued →

The Family Cast Podcast Takes a Look Back at The 2001 Dogwood Album, "Matt Aragon"

The Family Cast Podcast which is run by Josh Kemble of Dogwood and St Didacus, has just posted a wonderful look back on that monumental Dogwood album, “Matt Aragon”. Quite honestly this is the rare album that meshed Punk Rock and Christianity in ways that most other bands couldn’t quite articulate for that time period. This album dropped right after 9/11 at a time of great despair, brokenness, and ultimately a lot of soul searching, with “Matt Aragon” coming to mend all those questions and disbelief which many of us felt at a really dark time in human history.… Continued →

I completely forgot to post about this for about a week and I do apologize. Vinyl boutique label, Lost in Ohio, have taken it upon themselves to re-release some awesome classic Christian alternative albums on Vinyl, some for the very first time. They just launched a kickstarter to fund their latest creation, Morella’s Forest “Super Deluxe” which was the official Tooth & Nail label debut released back in 1995. Check out the kickstarter right here and make sure to visit the record label website here for more great music including a rerelease of Sixpence None the Richer “This Beautiful Mess” on Vinyl.… Continued →

Testimony of Apocalypse (Feat. Members of Sacrament) - Redemption (Demo)

Testimony of Apocalypse are an insane new metal band featuring members of classic Thrash Metal band, Sacrament. While members of Sacrament await their potential reunion in the future, a couple members got together and have pursued this really great new project called Testimony of Apocalypse, which is actually named after the Sacrament album of the same name. Check out the DEMO of a new track titled “Redemption”, below. The band plan to release their debut full length in the spring of 2022 via a label on the rise, The Charon Collective.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Slick Shoes - Last

Among the plethora of pop-punk bands in the Christian scene, Slick Shoes were one of the best, probably top 5 out of hundreds. Formed in 1994 in Southern California (like most Christian pop-punk bands), they released their debut EP for Tooth & Nail in 1997, then proceeded to release 6 full-lengths, a split with mainstream band Autopilot Off (FKA Cooter) and a live album. The band won a lot of points with me by taking their name from one of my favorite movies of all time, The Goonies.… Continued →

Theocracy is One of the Strongest Modern Metal Bands Alive

Theocracy I believe are quite possibly one of the strongest modern metal bands alive, fight me! This lesser known but still extremely talented and gut wrenching band, are working on a new album which would be their first in more than 5 years. Check out a couple teasers of guitar riffs and some vocals off upcoming songs, below. These are Facebook embeds so if you don’t have an account, not sure what to say. I searched YouTube but couldn’t find them. No word yet on a release date for this epic new album but more news will follow.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Freedom of Soul - Freedom of Soul

There is simply not enough hip-hop on this site. Let’s fix that! I grew up in a small, very monochromatic town in Oklahoma, where most of the people had my skin color. In that part of the world, there were two kinds of music–country and heavy metal. In the 80s, a few of my friends who were more hip had started getting into this new “rap music” that I knew very little about. But growing up in a country-western family and then discovering rock on my own, I wasn’t really predisposed to listen to rap.… Continued →

Red Weather Are Back With New Music

Red Weather are a really great indie/emo/pop-punk band out of the state of Virginia that released some music in 2020 and are coming back strong this year. The band dropped their song “Save My Breath” last month and have another single, “Counting Seconds” due to drop on 10/15. The band will release their new full length on 11/12 titled “Wish You Well”. Check out one of their new songs below.… Continued →

Goatscorge drops new single!

Bestial black metal/war metal band Goatscorge has just dropped a new single in advance of their forthcoming EP. The raw sound should appeal to fans of Lucifer Impaled, Elgibbor, and Shekinah. The controversial title will raise some eyebrows for sure, but it’s a direct reference to Isaiah 45:7– “I form the light, and create darkness I make peace, and create evil I the Lord do all these things.” Thus the title is not a reference to moral evil, but rather God’s pronunciation of judgement in His just wrath.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Havalina Rail Co. - I Change My Clothes

Havalina Rail Co. was a delightfully quirky, eccentric, genre-fusing and genre-bending experimental band from California. Across their 10-year career (give or take), the band dabbled in folk, ska, jazz, ragtime, blues, Americana, surf, and multiple internationally-themed genres. No two albums in their canon treads the same ground, and yet each successive opus is clearly recognizable as Havalina. The band stopped recording as HRC somewhere in the early 00s, but members have turned up elsewhere. Most notably are Matt Wignall who is a renowned photographer and is perhaps now best known as the producer for several Cold War Kids albums.… Continued →

Song of the Day: The Lonely Now - Original Intentions

Wonderfully noisy, and delightfully obscure, The Lonely Now only released 3 full-length recordings in their short career: —Captive, 1986, Narrowpath Records (cassette only) —Original Intention, 1987, Narrowpath Records (cassette, LP) —Honest Tear, 1990, Narrowpath/Refuge (cassette only) While all of their releases are somewhat difficult to obtain, ironically their final album–the only one with national distribution through Refuge–is the most difficult. It was released through the same agreement as debuts by The Crucified, Breakfast with Amy, and The Swoon. In fact, founding member Greg Sostrom (AKA Greg Strange) was the owner of Narrowpath Records.… Continued →

Further Seems Forever x Strongarm Collab?

This is just a rumor but word on the street is that a possible Strongarm reunion (either in song or set) is taking place at the end of Further Seems Forever’s performance at Furnace Fest this weekend. Don’t quote me but a special ending is planned so stick around, #thesecretsoftheheartmademanifest. Who would love to hear a little Strongarm for old time’s sake? They should totally live stream this as well as the entire fest for us losers stuck at home wishing they were at Furnace Fest.… Continued →

Outgrown Airs on HGTV Featuring Clint & Luke of Boise Boys

The men of “Boise Boys” are back on HGTV with a brand new show called “Outgrown“. Outgrown is a show essentially about families who have outgrown their current living arrangements and have to expand and/or remodel to make it bigger to suit the families’ growing dynamic. I watched the first episode yesterday and it was really good. Like a mix of Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Hometown, and The Gaines family shows. I think they have a bright future ahead of them. Those early IVM readers will remember Luke Caldwell from his early band – Esterlyn, which I was personally a big fan of.… Continued →
