Hands - The Sounds of Earth (Playlist)

The band Hands first formed back in 2007, releasing a couple of “Demos” of which I was a strong supporter of. Their songs even appeared on a few of our early digital compilations. I followed Shane and his band’s work closely over the years following their formation from their first independent release, “The Everlasting Ep” (2008), to the incredible full length debut “The Sounds of Earth” (Oort Records/2009) to “Creator” (Facedown Records), “Give Me Rest” (Facedown Records” and finally after a much deserved break, their comeback single “New Heaven / New Earth” (2017/Facedown Records).… Continued →

You most likely have never heard of Symphony of Heaven as it is a brand new band. Logan Thompson is the one-man band that is Symphony in Heaven. He has an instrumental called “Anno Domini” that is great. SOH released a song titled “Stratagem” that is primarily power metal styled up until the vocals come in. Pure death metal gutturals. It’s like Lightforce (pre-Mortification) and Mortification put together. The song is incredible. Go check it out here! Continued →

Grave Declaration recording Sophomore album

Grave Declaration, the death metal side-project of the great and powerful Antestor, has finally begun the recording of their sophomore album after the successful album, When Dying Souls Scream Praise. The band began in 2006 as a project of Thor Georg Buer, a former member of Antestor. The band has been slow going for the last few years, but it seems they have finally begun the recording of their sophomore album, hopefully to be out by this year. Since Antestor seems to be on an unofficial hiatus, the Vocalist of both bands, Ronny Hansen, has had more time for GD.… Continued →

Phinehas Remains a Three-Piece

The metalcore band Phinehas has announced they will remain a three piece, at least temporarily. Phinehas started in 2001, but the band didn’t really come to fruition until 2007. The band went through several lineup changes, ending on Vocalist Sean McCulloch, Guitarist Daniel Gailey, Bassist Bryce Kelly, and Drummer Lee Humerian. Humerian recently departed from the band on good terms. Now, McCulloch will be performing Vocals and Drumming. As they have stated several times. Sean is playing drums and singing now. So I guess the band now consists of Sean McCulloch (Vocals & Drums), Bryce Kelly (Bass) and Daniel Gailey (Guitars).… Continued →

Included are performances from legends of Christian rock and metal including Living Sacrifice, The Crucified, Sacred Warrior, Mortification, and more. The timing of these uploads is fantastic as many of these bands are reviving their projects and putting out new works.… Continued →

A product of the early aughts, Map has long held a special place in the heart of the Velvet Blue Music catalog. Now, your life’s strings can be plucked again by the man who truly values life itself. The last time that Map was heard on the audial landscape was in Speechless, their 2009 album.
