I’ve been sitting on this review since last November and since I tend to move slower these days with my writing contributions, it’s better later than never. Let me start off by saying that Craig’s Brother have been a favorite of mine since I first heard “Homecoming” all those years ago (25!). Their blend of melody, aggression, and thought provoking lyrics set them apart from the rest of the pack. I once had a label spinoff of Indie Vision Music and in 2019 I put out their “Devils in the Details” EP, one of the best accomplishments in all my years of running IVM.… Continued →

In honor of the greatness of a Festival that brings much joy to so many, I’m compiling a short longer list of recent band reunions announced for Furnace Fest 2023. This Fest has had a tumultuous past couple of years in light of the horrors and inconveniences Covid has brought to so many and yet they’ve persevered to cobble together an insane experience with an ongoing commitment to quality and fan adoration. While I haven’t been able to attend in either the past or more recently, I’m there in spirit.… Continued →

Magdalene Rose - Shark Spray (Official Music Video)
Magdalene Rose just dropped “Shark Spray” which is her debut song and music video to accompany it. This is the first song since GFM went on hiatus and her first as a solo artist. This song is anything but a singer/songwriter acoustic guitar like bore fest and rather has quite the heaviness factor to it. Check it out below.… Continued →

The Insyderz are Back in Action
Michigan based Ska-Core legends known around the world as The Insyderz, are back in 2023! The band last released “The Sinner’s Songbook” back in 2012. While no news about “new” music has surfaced I am certainly not against hearing a full band sound on a new track with that hard hitting, classic sound. The band recently played a local show last week which is leading up to their big set at Furnace Fest this year. What’s your favorite Insyderz song and what are you most looking forward to hearing at Furnace Fest?… Continued →
Introducing: Sam Hauge (Pop-Punk)
I heard about Sam Hauge through Paul at Small Step Records and I must say, I’m impressed. I guarantee that you’ll find these songs irresistible and instantly likeable. In other good news, the band Trenches which started as a side project of Jimmy Ryan who was the first vocalist of HTD until he left, are back as well.… Continued →
The Mandalorian Season 3 x Indie Vision Music Discussion Thread
I’m going to try something new here for a bit. We love discussing music and trying to stay (somewhat) updated on the latest happenings in our realm of independent Christian music but, so many of us also share a common thread of partaking in other forms of entertainment such as films, comics, arts, etc. so what better way to start it off than a discussion about the latest season of The Mandalorian. This was written before I made it to this last final episode of Season 3 so bare with me.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Five Iron Frenzy - A New Hope
This song “A New Hope” by underdog heroes – Five Iron Frenzy, was released after the tragic Columbine shootings that took place in Colorado back in 1999. It is just as touching and relevant today as it was almost 25 years ago. I will not spend any time on getting political here. The world has enough activists, and my voice is but a tiny speck of dust on a pile of needles hidden within a massive haystack. What happened in Nashville and frankly around the world on a continual basis is about more than just weapons, drugs, mental health, hate, anger, pain, fear, etc.… Continued →

Red Weather Release "Start Again"
Red Weather just relased their brand new track titled “Start Again” and it’s quite simply the best thing to emerge from the independent emo/indie rock scene in 2023. THey have this certain classic 00’s emo sound but it rises far above the mundane with unique, soaring choruses and catchy songwriting. Reminds me a little of Midtown, Name Taken, Bayside, Armor for Sleep, The Classic Crime, Letter Kills, and Taking Back Sunday. Make sure to give it a listen below and get ready to get crazy with Red Weather in 2023.… Continued →

The Choir Release New Songs
If there was ever a band to perfectly represent the depths to where “Christian Music” can go in regards to talent, songwriting, and even with longevity, that band would be The Choir. The band themselves have been together in one form or another for nearly 4 decades now, and making creatively connecting music for almost the same amount of time. The band is still working on NEW music and just recently put their “Patreon Sessions” collection of recent songs up on all digital networks. There is also a brand new cover of The Psychedelic Furs classic – “Heaven”.… Continued →

Indie Vision Music x Tooth and Nail Records - I'm Your Biggest Fan 2 (21 Years Ago)
A word document popped up in my Dropbox while I was searching for old files. It showed that the tentative line up for the “I’m Your Biggest Fan 2” compilation that I assembled for Tooth & Nail Records on March 11th 2002, 21 years ago. A couple bands had to be swapped for a couple reasons but the final lineup is pretty close to what I had planned out. I have created a little collage video with a couple song samples from the compilation through YouTube which you can view below.… Continued →
Greg Minier (The Crucified) Returns With 'Applehead'
Greg Minier, the talented guitarist from thrash metal legends – The Crucified, is back with his Applehead project and just dropped his first new song in nearly 3 decades titled “Down”. This is great stuff and brings to mind some classic 90’s hard rock music. Reminds me of Alice In Chains meets Velvet Revolver, Guns n’ Roses, STP, and Soundgarden. Even a little Mammoth WVH. Greg knows what he’s doing and this is definitely not amateurish like a few others out there. They are working on a brand new full length album that’ll be out later this year.… Continued →

Letter Kills Creates Quite the Buzz
Letter Kills which were a emo-indie-pop-punk band from the early 00’s that dropped some independent songs, signed to Island Records, released a huge sounding record called “The Bridge”, played around the country for a few years then just disappeared as quickly as they appeared. Lead Vocalist Matt Shelton went on to record with The Wedding as well some great solo songs and recently formed “Panther City Riots“. As a band they were strong and their delivery was just as good as ANY other band at that time.… Continued →

Brandon's News Round Up: March 18th 2023
Happy March everyone! After a long absence I’m back and ready to throw down, well from my own office that is. I’ll rumble with this keyboard and toss a mouse through your screen. I’m the A.I. of your nightmares. Yes, creepy I know. Let’s get rolling with some great February music news for this new year of 2023. Oh and yes, my “Best of 2022 List” is indeed coming soon or something like that. *This has been assembled sporadically over the past month or two so some items might seem “dated” but that’s ok because more is on the way.… Continued →

Jesus Revolution is a Revival in Film
I’ve been looking forward to Jesus Revolution (Film) for a year or two. I remember when I first caught word that the story of the “Jesus Movement” about this Southern California place I call home, would become theatrical production. Greg Laurie even announced it at Harvest Crusade back in 2021 and we got excited. I took my entire family to see this film on Feb. 22nd which was an “Early Access” screening. It began with an introduction about what we were about to watch from the filmmakers and writers themselves plus insight from Anne Wilson who contributes a new song to the film.… Continued →
