REVIEW : The Drowned God - I'll Always Be the Same

I’ll Always Be the Same is a tiring listen. For an album that focuses on negative thoughts and emotions, the lyrics really accentuate the music. Human psychology is paradoxical in the sense that even when emotions and thoughts seem to repeat themselves, they can never actually be the same qualitatively, since they occur at different points in time. The music of The Drowned God is an effigy of consciousness, for the song structures are entirely unpredictable, even when there is repetition at either the lyrical or musical level.… Continued →

Most Anticipated Releases of 2019: Rob Jensen

So, 2018 is behind us, another year on the books. All mentioned below I’m sure are coming this year, but a specific date has yet to be given.… Continued →

I am excited to reveal the track listing for the new Craig’s Brother ep “Devils In The Details” (to be released soon on Indie Vision Music). My Most Anticipated Releases of 2019 (Part 2)

In part 1 of my most anticipated albums of 2019 feature I mostly focused on artists who have confirmed releases for 2019. This time my list will feature artists who seem likely to release new music in 2019 but have yet to make it official. The Oh Hellos I feel like a new EP from The Oh Hellos in 2019 is a safe bet. The folk-rock band has stated previously that Notos and Eurus are just two of the four EPs to be named after the Greek mythological wind deities.… Continued →

Best of 2018: Rob Jensen

2018 had a number of great albums, all of which I couldn’t list here, but after careful consideration, these are my top 20, none of which are listed lightly. See which ones you’d have picked out and maybe find some new music to check out. And please remember, if you do end up finding something new, please support the artist by picking up some of their music! 1. Amongst The Giants – Obscene Part of the roster of the fairly new label, Rockfest Records, this hard rock/metal outfit released not just the best album of 2018, but the best in their genre over the past few years.… Continued →

My Most Anticipated Releases of 2019 (Part 1)

It’s a new year and that means new music! Here’s a few of the releases I’m most excited about in 2019: Mike Mains & The Branches – When We Were In Love I’ve been waiting on this album for years now. I first discovered Mike Mains & The Branches on RadioU shortly after the release of their sophomore album “Calm Down Everything is Fine.” I became an instant fan and got to see them play a house show a few years ago. At the time they were talking about heading back into the studio to record a new album.… Continued →
