The lineup and date for JCHC Fest has been announced for 2025. This very special Fest will feature Officer Negative and No Innocent Victim with the following bands supporting: The Deal, Headnoise, Take, Richie The Barber, Absolved, Barriers, Destroy Nate Allen, GratitudeTX, Infirmities, XDoulosX, and Zippy Josh and The Rag Tag Band. Check out this beautiful and sentimental new music video from Santa Cruz, CA. based pop-punk band – Too Bad Eugene. The track is “Astronomical” and features frontman Adam Nigh’s daughter Mercy Nigh. It’s a sweet video and done well, showing the connection between father and daughter much like the song itself. An absolutely killer new melodic punk rock band has emerged by the name of Humble Kings. The band featuring a former member of Off The Record and they play an upbeat form of punk rock that would appeal to fans of Much The Same, MUTE, Rise Against, Over It, Dogwood, and even Off The Record. Breakaway is a one-man oi/punk band from south Texas. In fact, all guitars, bass, “beats” (does this mean a drum machine?) and vocals on Warrior are handled by David Burke. The EP is produced by Breakaway as well, which I assume means Burke again. While this is impressive in many ways, it can also be limiting. We’ll come back to that as a recurring theme on this EP. The tempos, for the most part, are fast and furious, and yet there is a rock and roll undertone to the sounds.… Continued →

The Christian punk/indie/whatever scene isn’t limited to the United States. I can think of relevant bands from literally every inhabited continent, which is a truly wonderful thing. Punk band Homonovux call Mexico home, specifically the Yucatan region. They’ve released two EPs since forming a few years ago. Their musical inspiration comes primarily from 90s punk rock (new school punk, skate punk, and a little bit of pop-punk too), but their lyrical inspiration is the message of salvation. Five Iron Frenzy are adding some exciting “Old School Set” shows around the country celebrating the band’s rich past and fun, sometimes goofy, nature. The band just announced 2 more shows for the old school sets and they are happening right here in Southern California this August. First show is on August 9th at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA. and the 2nd show is at House Of Blues in San Diego. Both shows will feature Craig’s Brother and The Ruffolos. Lugnut was a hardcore punk band from Northern Florida, only active for a few short years in the late 90s/early 00s. Their sound was somewhat melodic, but they were way too intense and too fast to be pop-punk. Some have called this sound skate punk or new school punk. They only released one full-length album entitled . . . Like the Dickens and a split release with fellow JCHC punk Officer Negative. Both releases were on Screaming Giant Records. I’ve heard a pre-release, unmastered copy of the new Homeplate album and it GOES HARD! I wasn’t expecting this but I do love it and can’t wait till all our IVM friends stumble upon it. Even though this isn’t an IVM release, I can’t help but sing it’s many praises and send a little promotion their way. This is a more grown up Homeplate and a more heavy sounding album both from a production standpoint and their musicianship in general. It reminds me of “Chuck” era Sum 41 (and the latest album) meets Strung Out meets Four Year Strong meets old AFI with a little modern hardcore thrown in for good measure.… Continued →

It features members of MEANS and The Holly Springs Disaster and has a huge sound that is going to please fans of all these old school melodic punk bands as well as new school stuff just dropping in the scene.
