Introducing: floodlit (Videos In Post)
Recently I was given a tip about a new(er) band called floodlit. One of the best tips in recent memory. floodlit is a Los Angeles based post-hardcore/metalcore band, in the vein of Thrice, Defeater, Norman Jean, Deftones, Emery, Saosin, Spiritbox, BMTH, etc. By the band’s description, heavy music for a heavy purpose.
To date, there are two singles titled “AMa” and “AKo” released with accompanying videos (see below). The tracks are a sampling of what’s to come when the band drops their debut album later this year.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Dustt - Moments of Struggle
Chilean band Dustt operate in the doom/stoner metal vein (the genre, not necessarily the lifestyle choice). They have been active at least since 2010, when their debut album Testigos de Dolor first released. An eponymous album followed in 2011, through Martyrdom Records. A remastered version was issued in 2012, as well as another album Refugio the same year. Both of the latter are available for digital download or streaming via Bandcamp (Dustt).
I don’t know if the band is still active, but it would be great if they are, as there are not enough faith-oriented bands playing in this style.… Continued →

Top 25 of '25: Rob Jensen
All in all, I thought 2025 was a pretty good year for music! There were a few bands I’d hoped to hear some new material from and didn’t. There were a few I didnt expect to hear from whatsoever…but we did! Then, there were even a few new bands and artists I’d never heard of before who popped up on the radar and made some really great music! As we move into 2026, I most certainly have some big expectations for the new year, as I have for years and years prior, but will they be met?… Continued →

New Single From Chasing Victory, "Renegade"
Chasing Victory has done it again, dropping another new single titled, “Renegade” (see below). The track comes out swinging, but relents slightly in the choruses, making way for some really melodic vocal leads that are especially catchy. The vocals on this track sound amazing. The guys just might have plans for more music ahead, who’d be psyched for that??
Oh, and head HERE to get merch, updates, an

Sonny Sandoval, known for fronting P.O.D. and founding the Whosoevers, has dropped two tracks ahead of the release of a full album under the moniker, “Sonny Dread”. “Sleeping Lion” is a full on reggae track, while “Talk To God” leans more towards hip hop, though not completely. Skillet Release First Christmas Song, "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" With Music Video
Today, Skillet dropped their first Christmas song (and music video), “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”. The track largely focuses on a beautiful, melodic sound befitting most Christmas covers, but then turns on the heat, providing what may very well be the heaviest part of any Skillet song to date. Song of the Day: Arsenal - Stand Strong
This band formed in Florida in the early to mid-80s, and had recorded a 5-song demo by 1985. Two of those songs ended up on the Regency Records compilation East Coast Metal, released in 1988. The compilation featured 6 other bands, all of whom achieved some level of regional and/or national success. Arsenal played in the traditional heavy metal style, but featured a female vocalist, an uncommon trait in heavy metal bands, which gave them a distinct edge in their sound.
Based on the strength of the ’85 demo, a second demo of 3 songs released in 1988, and of course fan reaction to the tracks included on East Coast Metal, the band signed to Regency Records (home of Rage of Angels, Mastedon, and a host of other metal compilations), and released their one and only full-length, 1989’s Armored Choir.… Continued →

Demon Hunter Connect With the World and Release Their 12th Album
Demon Hunter have released one of their most gut punching, emotionally raw and spiritually connective albums to date. To say it’s a timely release is an understatement. There is just something truly special and remarkable about this album. Maybe it’s the grief connection, something I think many of us in this country and across the world really are feeling in light of the death of an influential young Christian and activist, Charlie Kirk. Not everyone will agree with his words or his approach but what we can agree on was his passion for his Faith and that unwavering commitment to share the gospel no matter the cost.… Continued →

Song of the Day: Rock Solid - Searchin'
This rarity band appears to have come from Ohio. I have not found much on them, but on the Christian Tape Underground site. This SOTD comes from a HM Magazine compilation. I know they also have a song called I Cried. Their music is of the hard rock genre & have been compared to Saint & Messiah Prophet.
And this post is dedicated to my stepdaughter Alissa who is having a birthday today!

Song of the Day: Daniel Band - Never Gonna Die
Pioneers of the early Christian metal scene, Daniel Band formed in 1979 in Toronto, Canada. Along with Resurrection Band, they were one of the first band to fuse true hard rock with faith-filled fervor and lyrics. The band’s sound often rode the line between hard rock and traditional heavy metal, much like secular artists Kiss, Van Halen, and AC/DC. They released 5 albums between 1982 and 1988, with a live album in 2001 and a handful of re-issues. Though they haven’t released any new material since the 80s, the band have played a scattering of live shows, including appearances at Ohio’s Immortal Fest as recent as 2024, and they are scheduled again to play Part 2 of the festival this August!… Continued →

Heaven's Metal Announces 40th Anniversary Print Edition with Flip Cover
After going out of print with its 150th issue in early 2012, Heaven’s Metal (HM) Magazine has returned with a 40th Anniversary special edition.

Rusty Shipp to release new album this Friday!
Everyone’s favorite nautically-themed hard rock band, Rusty Shipp, are set to release their latest marine-inspired offering, Capsized Empire to digital outlets this Friday (06/27). The album addresses the Problem of Evil from a philosophical standpoint–you know, standard, lightweight indie rock material (/sarcasm). In true Rusty Shipp form, the album follows a storyline, all of which will be included in the liner notes.

Song of the Day: King's X - Fall on Me
Along with the 80s alternative rock bands like U2, Midnight Oil, The Alarm, and Simple Minds, King’s X were the ultimate “Christians in a band” scenario. Despite numerous Christian labels and festivals trying to get the band on board, they always felt their audience was much wider. And yet, their lyrics always hinted at faith in bountiful ways.
Musically, the band often functioned as a ‘band’s band.’ They were praised and recognized by members of Pearl Jam, and tons of others as an influence. They played a strange mix of classic rock, funk, heavy metal, and alternative in a unique concoction of progressive metal that predated genres like grunge, alternative metal and even post metal.… Continued →
